^^That's the big old cliche flying around, usually followed by a complaint that the game isn't like the old ones, which they then go out of their way to compare to George Romero movies.
Let's be completely honest though; most of George Romero's movie suck ass too. One or two good ones near the start (no different from Michael Bay, really), then a whole flurry of low-budget trash flicks thereafter.
Not the most flattering of comparisons either way.

I played the XBL RE6 USA demo and honestly, I had mixed feelings about it.

I really miss classic Resident Evil, when it actually used to creep me out and not feel like an action game.

I did however enjoy the graphics and the detail in RE 6.

I'm also excited to see what they do with the storyline.

i rented out res6 & just finished the Leon campaign today. i dont think i could be bothered to play the other campaigns though.

i would give it a 6.5/10 mainly because its like an arcade style game. (you just mindlessly shoot unimpressive monsters)

I wonder if Capcom will put Resident Evil to bed after this RE6 debacle? Probably not, I guess. Roll-on RE7 lol.

I played the demo again, and I must say that I don't even find it very good just from a 'third-person action shooter' perspective. It's basically in the same sort of genre as Gears, Uncharted etc. It's just not as good as any of them.

Ok so I played about 4 hours of Leon's campaign today, and I can honestly say this game sucks.. Not because it's not like the old resident evil's, there are more zombie like creatures and the story seems more similar to the first games, but they stripped even the best parts out of Resident Evil 4 and 5.

The leveling up system for the game is awful.. Its played in levels so you can only level up or buy upgrades at the end of each level. As far as I can see you can only have 3 perks at once, and the weapons aren't available to upgrade, at least not for me yet.

Next the amount it takes to kill a zombie is ridiculous sometimes. Headshots don't really mean shit. You can shoot a zombie in the head, blow half of it off and still shoot it 3 more times in the head without it dying.

Another gripe I have is when you are passing by zombies that you know are going to get up you can't even shoot them in advance, basically you have to run in front, get grabbed 90% of the time, lose one block of life before you can melee them back to death. I just wish that if they were going to make upgrades in 2012 that they should give the player some credit and allow them a preemptive strike... Hell resident evil REmake for the gamecube let you do that.

I thought I would like this campaign best because of the demo. There are a few redeeming moments of raccoon city style horror, but other than that it falls short in a lot of categories. 5/10...so far

I beat Leon's campaign. Don't get why it's as bad as everyone says. I don't really like it but I can't seem to see why it's any worse than 5...

Same here. Just finished Leons scenario and honestly liked it more then I did 5. Maybe the rest of the game is where things take a bad turn? I wouldnt know since ive kept myself in the dark on all things including reviews. Ill still hold my final judgement once ive completed the game but so far I like it. And its been way more proper resident evil then 5 ever was.
To be fair though there are alot of things that should have been better thought out gameplay wise. Somethings are just apparently bad on occation. But I enjoyed it. And considering how long Leon and Helenas scenario is for just being 1/4 of the game, thats alot of value for the money. I just wished I could get more of the first 3 chapters of leon over what I expect to come with chris and jake. But I am looking forward to what Ada's is like.
