If you take some time to get the sword from the dragon's tail you can actually 2 shot him off the tower. Its a really good game, I'll get back to, especially with the prepare to die DLC, but its not really as hard as people make it out to be, then again I'm used to games being completely and totally unfair. (Damn you sailor moon)

Are you reffering to an unfair sailor moon game? and if so, which one? and more important why the heck were you playing it?

theres a few times when they make you fight a string of bosses in a row, and the pacing/balance is just as bad as Final Fantasy on NES.

Harvest moon is a farming sim, its fun. theres an RPG version called Rune Factory.

The SNES had a TON of really good anime/manga RPGs. Ranma, Tenchi Muyo, Gundam, Yu-Yu-Hakusho, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball-Z: attack of the Saiyains and Legendary Super Saiyin. They all had really interesting battle systems too.

well look at that, a snes emu started downloading itself tbh I've been wanting to replay ranma rpg for years but could never find a rom (the first time I played it, it was on a modded xbox I bought) I remember it having pretty diverse environments, I liked that, will have to check out the yu-yu hakusho and DBZ one, will probably try the gundam one as well after

Pretty much all these games have patches now.

The first turn based RPG kinda got re-released by Monolith and Namco-Bandai, I dunno if Europe got it tho.

All the DS ones were really good. Never played the first Wii Rune Factory but the one that came out for PS3/Wii was rubbish.
