It's one thing to include multiplayer/social elements as an option. It's evil to force online integration, which is obviously just a cheap way of enforcing copy protection, though they try to spin it as necessary fun.

They should do what Ubisoft have with Assassin's Creed. Designate the main studio to the single player game, and a smaller studio to multiplayer modes. That way, both SP and MP get the time and attention they deserve.
