Elder Scrolls On Next-Generation Consoles?
By David Smith
6/16/2004

Developer Bethesda Softworks is staffing up in anticipation of development for next-generation consoles, as well as future games in the Elder Scrolls series, according to a pair of updates to its online help-wanted page.

The new advertisements seek a World Builder for the next Elder Scrolls game and a new programmer to work on general RPG development "for the PC and future-generation consoles." The last Elder Scrolls title, Morrowind, was developed for both the PC and Xbox, the first multiplatform game in the series.

Bethesda's current release slate is relatively lean. It's gearing up to publish the Headfirst-developed Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, but it has no big-ticket projects of its own announced as yet.

A new Elder Scrolls game could be very far off, given the series' traditionally lengthy development cycles. Morrowind took a good five years to progress from concept completion. As such, it wouldn't be surprising to see Bethesda targeting the next generation of consoles with its next RPG.

sounds fun, im bored with my old game i powered my guy up, and the missions are too easy. It would be cool if there were some vehicles to use.

yeah I know, I'm really happy bacause I played Morrowind a lot and it took some time of my life.

But It took 5 years to make Morrowind, so don't expect it to soon.

Is anybody as excited about this game as I am? Overall, judging from everyone I've talked to about it, it doesn't seem to be getting as much love from the gamers as it is the media. Am I off with that observation?

haha I enjoyed it, it was real choppy and one thing I hated was the robot walking mechanics, but overall I liked it. TES is great when you've got a while til another game comes out you like, b/c you can play it for a looong time. Did you like the Fallout series at all after Bethesda took over?

And yes the music is definitely a major selling point for me.
