Crimson Dragon [Project Draco]

Some think its being moved to next gen but everyone knows its an XBLA game so unless they make it bigger, Maybe add controller support and improve the graphics and so on they have 0 reason to hold a XBLA game back.
So who knows maybe a disc next gen game? or one that supports both types of controls? But i think they would have actually announced that by now.

Whoa, this game still exists? It's been a while since I heard anything about it.

Edit: Just read the last post properly, and it sounds like no one really knows what's up with it. Reckon it will ever see the light of day?

It should do. The game was finished and looking good and Futatsugi has already talked about a follow up.

Just odd that the game was pulled a day or 2 before its Japanese release and nothing official has been said yet apart from the delay is due to MS which would probably mean they are holding it off for something. One of their XBLA events? Would have just used it in Summer of Arcade last year.
Next gen game? Only worth it if the game is now coming to disc and as a XBLA would probably need more content added.

if they added pad controls I'd be so into this. Heck even if they didn't I do technically have a Kinect.

Ill get it as soon as MS pull their finger out and release it but i do think a game of this type would sell better if it supported both controls.

Some new details from the demo

sacra ‏@lifelower

#Kinect works fine on Crimson Dragon #XBLA even if sitting, but I still want the pad support… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ifO72YsjZU

How To Play
Menace Of The White Phantom

You are a dragonrider on Planet Draco, sent by Seeker Command to destroy the White Phantom, but you failed. Steel yourself through missions and destroy the White Phantom!
Camp Exile

Missions: Select the mission to embark on.
Bestiary: Tend to your dragon.
Trading Post: Browse World Factbook.
Help & Options: Change settings.

Mission Report

Dragon’s Life: Zero HP = Mission failed.
Dragon’s Willpower; Required to use skills.
Reticle: Control with left/right hand and invoke skills.
Skills: Dragon’s current skill set.

Mission Reward

When you successfully complete a mission you receive Food units based on your rank and EXP based on score. Different missions offer different types of Food, so try to take on all of the missions available.
How To Feed

Feeding your dragon teaches it new skills. Select a Food item on the right to view the accompanying skill. Feed your dragon the same Food multiple times to teach the skill fully. Some Foods need to be combined with others to be effective, and some build on previously learned skills.
Trading Post

The Trading Post is your one-stop shop for goods and information. Here you can sell the Food obtained during missions to buy Food Packs and new dragons. You can also peruse important data, such as information about defeated enemies.
Multiplayer Mode

In multiplayer mode, you can team up with other dragonriders to take on missions. Encounter enemies and obtain Foods exclusive to multiplayer mode.
Controls
Basic Controls

Move your body to make the dragon follow. Lean left, right, forward or back to steer your dragon. Move your right or left hand to aim the targeting reticle and the dragon will fire its skills towards that reticle.
Skills

Every dragon comes equipped with a main skill set. main skills aren’t interchangeable, but additional subskills can be learned through feeding and will consume Willpower when used.
Shooting with Ray skills

For Ray skills, lock on to your target with the reticle and throw your hand forward to fire. The shot will chase down the locked targets, and multiple enemies can be hit at once.
Shooting With Shot skills

For Shot skills, simply aim your target with the reticle and bullets will automatically shoot in that direction. Well-aimed shots can heavily damage a slower moving enemy with multiple hits.
Shooting with Vision skills

Vision skills detect enemies within a large reticle field and continuously attack them as soon as they enter the reticle. This is useful for massed enemies with low stamina.
Shooting with Action skills

Use Action skills by raising and then lowering your arms. Action skills boost your dragon’s stats temporarily or launch powerful attacks, but consume a lot of Willpower, so use them wisely.
Change position

Thrust both arms forward to change positions with an ally dragonrider. Take the lead when you need to protect an ally, or drop back when you’re weakened. Only for multiplayer mode.

The way the cursor moved around makes me think it's now a controller game.

Yeah, I'm out. The game looks great, but I'm just not bothering with the new Xbox any time soon (if ever, all honesty). I haven't been reading up on the system all that much, but the little bits that I have bothered to pay attention to turn me right the fuck off.
Too bad that this particular game has to be brought down by that fact.
I kind of hope Yukio Futatsugi moves to a different company sometime soon. He received absolutely no respect from Microsoft when he made Phantom Dust, and this project keeps getting fucked over as well. He needs to work somewhere else, so his genius can be properly appreciated.

Isn't he an indie dev rather that part of MS?

He developed Phantom Dust as part of Microsoft's Japanese Game Studio. I'm pretty sure he's still there. Haven't heard anything contrary (of course I don't always keep up with gaming news as much as some).
