I'll keep my eye on this. Wasn't a huge fan of the first one. Traded it in after a month. I liked the setting, but the story was a bit silly IMO. Wasn't big on the combat either.

I reserved this game and I do hope there is some more of the plot revealed. This game has me hooked

The Medieval aspects were based on history, sure (though they still remain entirely fictional).

But the ridiculous sci-fi parts?
No. Not at all. Genetic memory, as far as I've ever heard, is a generally derided idea. It's a stupid concept, and the games would be much better without the "futuristic" parts.

^^I mean, seriously, shouldn't the "middle-east during the Crusades" setting have been unique enough to hold the game? I was fucking excited about that when I first heard about the game. Then they had to add a bunch of sci-fi crap in there...

Looking at this topic now, it's kind of funny how much I was against the sci-fi stuff in the story, and now that I've actually played all of them I don't mind it so much.

Oh, and the "spinoffs" you mention are actually legitimate sequels, just not numbered. So much happens in them that I'm guessing anyone who jumps into 3 after only playing 2 will probably be a bit lost.
