Hybrid (5th Cell FPS)

So I was wondering if you guys had heard about this game, Hybrid. It's made by 5th Cell, the same guys who did the awesome NDS game Scribblenauts.
Hybrid is a FPS with an interesting twist: you select where you want to go in the area you're in, and then the game takes over the movement, so you can concentrate on who/what you fire on. This is really useful since in a lot of occasions, you'll be flying around the map, not just walking. This last part also disrupts the whole "move, get to cover, shoot" loop, since there are a lot more chances to flank the enemy (for example, flying over a chest-high wall and shooting your adversary).

Here's a walkthrough: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gt-ex ... rid/729113

I don't have a 360, so I hope they'll bring it to Steam one day. Looks fun.

Actually I think it's third person. It looks interesting

(just because there is a new first person shooter dosen't mean its like COD or Battlefield. We have specifically too many realistic military FPSs.)

Its interesting, but while the idea is there I'm not sure I'm digging the execution.

It seems like one of those games that tries to bend genres so, it tries to remove an aspect that every TPS has, but ends up being something thats not easy to replace.

Don't care too many FPS period. All anyone wants to make is FPS FPS FUCKING PIECE of SHIT. Also Scribblenauts was not even very good. Once the novelty wore off was pretty boring.

The exact same thing could be said about RPGs, point & clicks, and platformers depending on what time period you reference, and I doubt you'd be complaining about those.
As soon as I saw the term "FPS" in the topic title, somehow I knew the first post would be Ryudo putting it down.

Yeah because there is a Operation Rainfall for FPS these days because they are struggling for sales huh.

Esp all these Retro Reboots. They would not sell now for what they were so they turn it into a FPS and BAM sold..yeah...smartass

I'm talking about last gen, the one before it, and the one before that. Tons of RPGs. You aren't bitter solely because there's too much of something; you're bitter because the things you're into aren't the most popular.

Last gen is irrelevant. This gen is relevant. Too much Halo & CoD hurting the industry.
Only FPS I'm interested in this gen was Batman Imposters

It's interesting how we become skewed against something to the point where we are no longer able to see anything good in it when it happens.

I for one stand by the notion that the mechanic they introduce adds a level of excitement that the genre needs. And while yes, the execution is still lacking, it's an exciting starting point.
And Scribblenauts only became boring as your imagination and foolishness wained.

my imagination didn't wain. I was bored of an obvious gimmick. Also it didn't have many things I thought up.

Where the fuck was my horse with t rex arms and pig legs riding a bacon space ship into Christina Hendricks pussy while singing All I want and his eyeballs were blue dreamcast logo's shooting lasers made of licorice whip cream

Yes, congratulations, you can piece together a string of unrelated ideas to make something new up. You know, like anyone else on the planet. I'm just not sure we can grant it any value - for obvious reasons.
It's what you can do within a game's limitations that makes it remarkable. In Scribblenauts, and especially Scribblenauts 2, you can do more than most.
But this is not about that game. It's OK Ryudo, but if you can't appreciate FPSes, then why waste your time repeating how they're a plague, again and again? We got it. You find them repetitive. You think they round up all the jock-bullies and brainless animals. It doesn't mean they can't be a blast to play.

FPS' aren't my thing, but that doesn't mean they're bad.
