So they put Danica Patrick in it and a Movie tie in. No Ryo and no Segata Sanshiro riding a Saturn(was planned for the first) Are they trying to lose sales? They lost focus of why the first was great. No non sega guys. Keep last years cast just add more SEGA characters.

Well, I want to be optimistic and say that if there are any secret characters in the game, they likely won't just announce it. So y'know, maybe there's still some hope of other characters that don't suck.

Of course there is the matter of them maybe not having any workable vehicle ideas for Ryo. Since this game also includes water racing and flight, maybe they thought it would look ridiculous to put Ryo in a tiny boat or airplane. The first game, they only had to put him on a motorcycle or in a forklift, things that make absolute sense for his character.
Just a thought.

You mean as much sense as putting the fastest thing alive in a slow car or losing to Mario in Olympic games? Also makes no sense for the dwarf in Golden Axe or NiGHTS. So I don't buy that. Oh well I'm a sucker still buying this.

What I meant is that Ryo is sort of on a different reality spectrum from the other characters. They're all cartoony or fantasy-related, so it wouldn't look ridiculous to put them in cartoonish transforming vehicles, while Ryo is a realistically-proportioned character from a much more realistic game. If anything, he'd probably just look comedic in some kind of transformable machine.
I'm not saying it's a good reason to exclude him, I'm just saying the thought might have crossed their minds, and as such lead them to keep him off the roster.
