You always bring up the idea of a "filter" every time the subject of HD remastering comes up. There's a lot more to it than that. People have to go through lines of code and figure out how to make it all work under a totally different system. Its a lot more complicated than you seem to think. And the more visual content there is in a game, the more complex the process is to bring it to stronger consoles.

Still my other point stands. Pick up and play games sell much better. Something like Shenmue with a unfinished story and you have to really commit to a game that is either love or hate. I'm willing to bet that is the biggest reason SEGA does not do it. As to what AG said about size. It's called Episode DLC. Games on XBL do it all the time even story ones like Walking Dead.

I dont think a game like that should be put through episode dlc. It's got it's own chapters as it is. I don't think it needs to be divided even further

I only mentioned it because AG was concerned it might not happen because of it's size. To help the porblem they could break it up in episodes. 1 episode per disc.

If Shenmue was released in shorter chapter forms, i would still buy em. Means more money for a potential Shenmue 3.

Sega kicks a lot of ass these days, all things considered.

One of the few companies on the rise when the medium is shaking.

This made me laugh.

And btw, I thought Sega was in a rut these days financially

Knowing how Jedi turned out? Yes.

But imagine you are looking forward to Shenmue only to be told the pay off is being stuck in a cave for 11 years.

Star Wars made money. Shenmue didn't

Let's have it right though, Shenmue failed coz the Dreamcast failed. What was it, 2 copies needed to be bought by every Dreamcast owner to turn a profit? Then they made silly decisions with Shenmue II and marketing both games.

We give Shenmue a lot of shit for not bein profitable or whatever, but when intentionally setting out to build a brand new franchise, it's silly for anyone to expect an immediate return. It's a long-term investment.

Shenmue failed because SEGA failed. 32X,SEGA CD & SEGA Saturn out SEGA bankrupt. SEGA barely escaped from from going out of business. They supported 8 consoles in several countries. Sammy saved SEGA from being SNK. Even if Shenmue sold decent SEGA was still in the red and going to have to cut funding anyway. Also the budget of Shenmue really hurt SEGA as well.SEGA from 32X just set the ball rolling they could not stop.
