But I got a Nintendo Switch and Mario Odyssey for my birthday. The console is fantastic, so small and easy to get started. The game itself is a masterpiece. Best Mario game I've played since Super Mario 64, for me (yeah, I played Galaxy, not my thing, although I'm willing to give it another shot now I am loving Odyssey so much). The levels are incredibly fun to play and I did a session on Friday that was 4 hours straight, just lost track of time. It's one of those kind of games.

I could never get in to Galaxy either. Other than 64 the only mario game I played extensively was sunshine and even that I didn't bother finishing. Odyssey does look amazing though and I will probably get a switch just for it and breath of the wild eventually.

Henry Spencer wrote:Also got Shadow of Rome (PS2) off my brother. This game is just amazing as well. Such a fun cinematic experience from Capcom (the Onimusha devs made this and you can tell). I'm a good few hours into the game now and honestly feel like this has got to be one of the most underrated Capcom games of all time. Without a shadow (heh) of a doubt! Such a shame it's so forgotten nowadays and won't be getting a remaster since it bombed so hard for Capcom.

Good call on that one. Yeah, underrated as hell. Specifically, it was the devs of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams who made it. I still hold Dawn of Dreams to be one of my absolute favorite games on the PS2, and quite honestly think it's one of the best action games Capcom has ever made (though that's another we'll likely never get a remaster of; bums me out to no end). Shadow of Rome has that DNA all over it. Still need to go back and finish it one of these days, but yeah, really such a great game. And that violence is freakin next-level.

Playing DMC HD I have sadly realized the first game has aged very poorly. Clunky with archaic game and level design and obviously just using some remixed RE music. Thankfully DMC3 has faired far better. While it does suffer what so many action games did at the time and that is find thing to flip a switch to open door but the combat still feels pretty solid. It's not Bayonetta good by any means but is a massive step up from DMC 1. Been so long since I played these on PS2.

Got FFXV a few days ago. I am really liking the game, which is a surprise for me because I absolutely hated FFXIII. The food in this game looks super delicious btw, they did a great job with those models and textures. They obviously cooked these dishes to perfection irl to make these perfect models in game.

Bought this back on release but wasn't posting then. Picked up the PAL LE of Ni No Kuni II for PC (which is why I imported it). Its got a hardcover artbook, vinyl with the theme song in an awesome sleeve with pop up artwork and a music box. I'll link a video in the spoiler if you want to see the contents.
