Official Gaming Music Topic

Official discussion topic for gaming music v2.0 - last one was getting cluttered.

Place your game music from YouTube in tags like this:

Remember, it doesn't just need to be a dumping ground for YouTube videos, either. Some examples:
Favourite composers? Favourite music in gaming? Music that stands out to you in a game? Genres of music that are missing/not in enough games (Hip Hop or Trance, for example).

There seems to be something about these old MIDI tunes that I like. Nostalgia for the PS1 probably plays a part (and IMO there was a "magical" quality to some of the 8/16 bit soundtracks too), but I think a part of it is how basic the composition sounds, able to spot exactly when a layer or whatever is added. I like progressive tunes for that reason, hearing the tune come together in nice easy basic steps...

Oh, well. From my many composers: Susumu Hirasawa and JDK band. It's a wonder to hear them.

I buy up all of Falcom's CDs as soon as they appear on Amazon. I absolutely love Falcom JDK and recently they released a Ys Zanmai with a remixed version of "Feena" one of my favorite songs in the original Ys.

Thumbs up just for that. I don't even know why, really, but it drove me crazy when that would happen in the old topic. I mean, if the music is worth posting, there's got to be something worth saying about it too, right? Even if only a sentence.

Anyway, just beat Spec Ops: The Line, and even with all the praise I've seen for it, I was still taken by surprise over just how good it is. Crazy that there wasn't more hooplah over it around release.
But the music was a special little surprise all its own. Sure, the licensed tracks were all excellent (nothing like 60s rock blaring over a loudspeaker to highlight an intense gun battle), but the original score was just as good.

This one, is from a real hard game. One from the Saturn. Skeleton Warriors. One of those hard as fu... games. I can only remember one track from that great Soundtrack made by one of the best composers, in my opinion. Tommy Tallarico.

Astal I been playing it and it's pretty challenging. It is such a pretty game as it's all hand drawn. This is the kind of game that back in the mid 90's when playing Genesis or SNES wondering what can CD for gaming. This would have been an answer. It has well animated cut scenes. Nice music that was not midi but with vocals and instruments. If you are a Saturn owner get the game. Granted a bit pricey but it's so fucking worth it. Now than I finally have the game. It was worth the wait.

Words can not express how excited I am for this game. It's so very therapeutic... and relaxing. I can't wait to be fishing at 1AM listening to this song in game.

Awesome music and i used to just leave Ryo in the building to listen to this.

Just wish the Yakuza played an actual role in the game at some point.

I just got the Japanese version of BR and I love the main theme and love the remix on SSRT.

If you're a fan, you can download an official copy of the 17-track Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack direct from the composer for a price of your own choosing.
