FTL has an amazing soundtrack. I've put 160 hours into this damn game and I still have the music on most of the time.

When this game first came out, I think I remember most reviews dismissing the music as mediocre.

Maybe games now just don't have stuff like this or something, but it all seems pretty standout to me. Also absolutely perfect for the game's content; the music really helps in enhancing the action, which is already pretty hard-hitting and intense on its own.
Why the fuck is it that Namco releases soundtracks for just about every frickin game they've ever made, but still there's no soundtrack release for this? Insanity.
I'd buy it in an instant. Hard to find games with good metal-ish original music, but I revel in it every time I find one.

While there isn't a ton to do in the area itself, this soundtrack combined with the view was something else.

God, this game is flashing me back so hard to when I first played the Mega Man Zero series; I was never big into 2D Mega Man until that. I'd played them, I just wasn't a fanatic for them. And of course, being the clone that it is, Gunvolt's music sounds a ton like MMZ's.
This is my favorite so far.

And just like how Mega Man Zero (or X) music always sounds badass when people do guitar covers of them, I'd love to hear a cover of this.

Totally obscure, but I love the game room music for Baraduke in Namco Museum vol. 4. It starts so ominous, but then it made me laugh my ass off when, at about 32 seconds, it started quoting the main powerup from the game.
The beat also sounds a lot like something off the soundtrack for Stand Alone Complex on PS2, so that's a plus as well.

My buddy and I have been playing through all the final fantasy games in order for the past ... i don't know ... 5 years or something? And we've just recently gotten to 7. I haven't played through this game all the way through since probably around year 2000 or so and I'm loving, but one song that really stuck out to me is Cid's Theme. Such an amazing track, one of the strongest in the game I think.

Loving this game -- totally not overrated. Very enjoyable experience to this day.

Also, I've made comments about ff6 in the past, and after playing through it recently, I take them all back. It's a great game and I should shut up most of the time.

I believe I actually like this better than the more iconic Mario 1 theme.

It's weird that I barely even remembered this game until I recently read a short article on it, and then it all came flooding back to me how much I loved this as a kid. Used to play it on road trips, me and my brothers being forced to take turns with the Gameboy. I'm not what you'd call a Mario fan in general, but I used to love this game. For years it made me associate Mario with an Egyptian visual style because of the first level.

Like I said in the other topic, I was really surprised by this soundtrack. Feels distinctly old-school, like an old PS1 game (or, in some cases, maybe something on the SNES or GBA).
I swear to god, the "harp" synth used in this first one sounds a helluva lot like the same sound Hitoshi Sakimoto would use in games like Vagrant Story or FFTactics (here's an example for comparison). The actual style of the music is obviously different, but it's great hearing synth that just sounds so "late 90s." That's a beautiful thing.

phpBB [video]

And I can't place it exactly, but I'm trying to figure out where I've heard the background "whistling" synth used in the next one (the stuff that begins accompanying the piano right at :11 second in). I'm tempted to say it was probably a Megaman Zero game, but I can't be sure. Either way, it's really, really familiar, and I love how it sounds.

phpBB [video]

I'd post more, but I'll keep it limited. So much of the more actionous, fast-paced music on the OST sounds almost Megaman-esque in nature, so it didn't surprise me to find out that the composer actually scored Megaman ZX a ways back. It's all fantastic stuff.
