I love the winter and I love snow... which is a shame considering I now live in a desert where it never snows... blargh.

At least I can use video games as a nice winter escape sometimes :)

The snowy area in RDR. Great place for Bear hunting

Some temples in Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask and Twilight Princess of the Zelda Series.

Goldeneye when your in Serbia.

Modern Warfare 2 opening missions with Soap and Price.

Fahrenheit/Indegio Prophecy.

Resident Evil- Code Veronica (2nd disc)

The Himalayas stage in Comix Zone.

Can't go wrong with Freezeezy Peak in Banjo-Kazooie:



You climb a giant snowman, go inside a big Christmas tree, enter an igloo to meet a family of polar bears...

This is just one level though. Most platformers have a snow/ice level, to go along with their lava level and their water level, etc. But for me the example in Banjo has the best atmosphere of its type.

Aside from the ones mentioned already:

One stage in Final Fantasy Tactics. Very nice music playing during it too.

Ocarina of Time has a couple of really nice snow environment stages.

Sonic Adventure had one that I remember really liking.

One area in Final Fantasy XII (Paramina Rift/Mt. Bur-Omisace) which is one of my favourite areas in the game.

D2 for Dreamcast (survival horror/adventure game) take place entirely in that snow environment.

Baten Kaitos (either the first game or Origins) has one, I think, never played it but seen it in some screens for the game and looks great.

Maken X/Shao for Dreamcast/PS2 takes place all over the world, but one of the locations you visit is Russia.

Max Payne 1 takes place during the coldest (and snowiest) Winter that New York has seen in years. Part of the reason why I love that game is the setting/atmosphere.

Parasite Eve 1 takes place during the Christmas period and is a survival horror/RPG hybrid with amazing atmosphere.

I believe you're aware of Front Mission DS has those snowy environments due to its setting at certain points in the storyline.

Lot's of really great ones that you guys mentioned that I completely forgot about or didn't even know in the first place :)

Also had some really nice music during that chapter... really set the mood.

The Blue moon campaign in Advance Wars 2, since Blue Moon is like this russian tundra. It always makes me think of winter when I play that part of the game.

Syberia, definitely. I have played the second one, Syberia II. (And just noticed that there will be a third one in 2014 or 2015... a third one...)
