Unsung Story

Matsuno's next venture is entitled, "Unsung Story." The new IP for mobile devices will be more than just a one-game show. His first game in the world he's created is Unsong Story: Tale of the Guardians, a strategy game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics. Matsuno shared his excitement to be working on a project for smartphones because they're handy and flexible. He said that while he's taking plenty of cues from his previous works, he's also designing a new user interface to fit the mobile space.

Unsung Story is set in a medieval fantasy world of Rasfalia. Small kingdoms are emerging throughout the world, and you pick the kingdom you want to represent. Knights, wizards, and archers populate your tactical fields in a fight against monsters to help find out the meaning behind a half-century of war.

So my favourite game designer goes to mobile phones. Woo hoo.

I remember Yu Suzuki saying that the reason he went smartphone is because he believed that in a few years time (he said it in 2011) that the market will be become the next revolution in gaming next to Pong/2D/3D. Ya'll better get used to it.

So it turns out he is only the "Original Story Writer" and isn't designing the games or directing. The reason for this being that he "already has a lot of projects under way". Phew.

^ Wouldnt it be better if he was directing the entire project? You think this is gonna tarnish his name cause he did a phone game or something? The game itself sounds like it will be awesome, regardless of the platform, sure I dont like that its on phones but atleast hes getting to do a game more in his original style. You every reason to be excited.

No, it's better that he's got other things lined up. The fact there are multiple projects from him in the future will be great. Besides, I'm not so sure you'd be so happy if Tetsuya Takahashi turned to phone game development either.

It really just depends on what type of game it is, if its a legit RPG and not some social media crap I couldnt really be that mad, only thing that would really bother me is that I cant own my own physical copy. and sure i prefer a controller but I would still be excited and atleast give it a chance.
