I've been meaning to buy a PS4 for Shenmue 3/Yakuza games (only have an Xbox One atm)

Apparently there's some sony e3 hype sale happening, is this bundle worth getting? (PS4 Slim with Tekken 7 Deluxe Edition) Was going to wait until Prime Day in August but this seems alright, I loved tekken during 5,6, and Tag 2 but I haven't got much interest in returning to 7, I might just sell it (it's valued £70 here) and use that dough to get games I want and have the price of the console cheaper in total.

http://www.game.co.uk/en/playstation-4- ... 4tekken7HW

Not really interested in getting a Pro version either tbh unless it becomes a situation where devs just gimp the OG PS4/Xbox versions (we are kinda seeing that a bit with tekken 7 right now, with insane loading times and input lag etc). I just hoping shenmue 3 and yakuza runs well enough (the latter I've heard runs better on a pro, especially with 0 and 6)

decisions decisions, ripping mah hair out... :-/

Yakuza 0 runs great on a standard PS4, maybe it runs better on a pro but I definitely didn't have any complaints playing through it.

I wouldn't bother with the pro unless you really want to. It's having trouble delivering with several titles, and some don't even support it. Which is part of the reason they updated it with the "boost mode". Its not even able to run Dark Souls 3 at 60fps. So I would take the cheaperOG/slim model. Rock solid 30fps is far better than an inconsistent frame rate. Save the extra cash and use it towards games.

Great to hear, I've been media blackout on the game but I've heard that when there is a lot of NPC's/Geometry density it screen tears :/ I hear Yakuza 6 screen tearing is much worse though.

But considering I've completed yakuza 3,4, deadsouls and 5 not that long ago, I was totally fine with how they played/looked so anything above that is a bonus (heck I would've bought yak0 for ps3 if it had come out here like persona)

Thanks for your help SC! Thoughts on the deal itself? Think I'm gonna get it, I just hope sony doesn't announce a new revision/price change or amazon prime has an amazing deal this july haha, always happens with my luck! :-/ (As it did with the Xbox One 1tb version which got insanely discounted months later :*-(

Thanks for letting me know, if I do get one of the "upgraded" consoles I'd choose the scorpio over it imo, I like how it would naively downsample and have the settings through the OS etc but that's only if (i just like that idea that if next gen comes, our old games will run better on it).

Thanks again, I notice that many of you guys have playstations over xbox here so I'll happily add you if I notice your gamertag on PSN! :-) (my PSN gamertag is the same as my username here)

I didn't notice any screen tearing on Yakuza 0 but maybe I just don't have an eye for it. The deal is about the same price I bought mine second hand a year ago so it seemd decent. My PS4 broke though after 9 months of use and the person who sold it to me had bought it only 6 months prior so I would recommend looking in to wherever the slim model is a bit more robust.

Yeah, i would've happily got the OG PS4 but then I heard it's really loud and really hot (to almost the same extend as the OG xbox 360) and that it has a bad wifi chip/antenna?

My xbox one may be an absolute monster truck in size but it looks sleek and runs really quiet and cool. I hear the slim is a bit better so I'll go for it. Apparently the PS4 pro is a little loud/hot but nowhere near the likes of the OG PS4/Xbox 360?)

And cool, whatever the dips in yak0 I'm sure it'll be negligible then :-) again I'd be content running this on an ps3 if I could xD hopefully developers won't lean to the scorpio/pro and end up butchering the base versions (and if they, next gen better be backwards compat for both xbox and playstation! :-p) thanks again

Annnnnnd I just bought it. Sony, if you're going to shadow drop shenmue hd on us, I'm ready, BRING IT!

(thanks again for your help everyone much appreciated, I missed playing japanese games so much with how xbox just lacks in that genre completely. Not looking forward to that PS4 controller or battery life though xD Anything niche or worthwhile games to recommend? be sure to let me know! I think trhe first one I'll get is gravity rush remastered. I ordered yak0 a while ago but amazon still haven't sent it as they're still outta stock :-(

I think for some reason it's a bit hit and miss on wherever your PS4 is loud or not. Mine didn't make that much noise but I have seen a lot of people complaining about their being noisy.

As for some niche games you could give dragon quest builders a go. It's a fun game and a bit more than a minecraft knock-off. If you see it on sale maybe you could give dying light a go if you're in to zombie games, I quite enjoyed it.

Yakuza 0 is seriously amazing. Runs just fine on my base PS4.
Also a better game than Shenmue II. I stand by that.

Good to know. And yeah agreed, even though the OG xbox 360 was loud I had surround sound by then so it didn't really matter much. Dreamcast was probably the loudest but to frank i was younger and didn't mind it (and find it kinda endearing that it makes that disc noise lol)

However console temperatures/cooling does matter a lot to me and was the biggest reason i didn't want to get an OG model of the PS4.

My OG PS4 is louder than a fucking GE jet engine. Kinda gets insane at times.

Then yours is full of dust and not getting proper ventilation. Mine runs rather quiet. It's in open air and clean the sides of it often.
