This is coming from a huge Vita fan, patches can't improve hardware. Using Borderlands as an example, I've played both 1+2 extensively on PS3 and PC, its just not made to run on a hand held. The title is too ambitious, it shouldn't have been given the green light for a Vita port in the first place. The console version of BL2 runs at 720p and consistently has massive frame rate drops due to the draw distance, particle effects and shaders. Not to mention the texture issues. Have you noticed all the things they've taken out to try and get it to run better on Vita? Enemies no longer rag doll but disappear due to lack of ram, less enemies altogether, half the things don't have shadows, and there are tons of effects missing in various places just to name a few. And with the lack of L2/R2 your control options are limited.

You see the same issues when games built on PC are ported to consoles like Skyrim, Fallout 3, BF3/4 just to name a few. The freezes, occasional stuttering and things like that are cause by them being built on machines with higher specs, then ported to consoles with less ram than a PC built in 1999 lol. The more you play Skyrim/Fallout, the bigger that save file gets, the more issues you have since the system doesn't have the ram to keep your file and textures loaded at the same time. That's why those two titles ran better on 360 than PS3.

True, but there are games like ratchet and clank trilogy where it runs good on vita but if you buy the physical copy the 2nd game is broken, also jak and daxter 1 has issues running but the other two run better which doesn't make sense since 1 has less polycount. Borderlands can't be fixed but you cannot deny that mass media has made some lazy ports.

Apparently the original Jak & Daxter was partly difficult to port even to the PS3, because the original game made use of all kinds of crazy, obscure bits in the PS2, even delving into its PS1 hardware components to get certain things to work properly. It was a giant soup of off-the-wall programming. There's a documentary about the porting process on youtube somewhere. So yeah, it makes sense if it doesn't run as well as the second and third games on Vita. Not everything is all about poly counts and whatnot.
