Here's some info that was in a September Famitsu magazine that i haven't seen posted on here. Specifically the other world app and texting.

Story

Unlike Persona 3 and Persona 4, Persona 5‘s story is designed to be like an “omnibus,” with no one specific enemy or criminal that the team chases after. Like a serial drama TV show, the Phantom Thieves change the targets they chase regularly.

A fundamental part of the story is the mystery behind a phone application called “Isekainabi” (“Otherworldnavi” or “Parallel World Navigation”). Using this app, the main characters discover the location of their targets and are able to infiltrate the other world known as “Palace” to steal the hearts of “rotten people.”

Unlike the protagonists and their friends in Persona 3 and Persona 4 who become directly involved together to solve a specific incident, the cast of Persona 5 are involved with social reformation and atonement.

“Palace” is the other world which is responsible for settings such as an old castle, pyramids, an art gallery, and more. These locations are fundamentally tied to Persona 5‘s background.

Gameplay

The SNS system seen in the PV03 trailer will have players chatting with other characters using phone text messages. This will allow players to personalize and expand their stories.

Players will be able to explore various locations in the Greater Tokyo Area, as seen in trailers.

Characters

The protagonist and his friends are troubled, and there is a part of them that feels they have lost their way. Because of this, they devote themselves to using the “Isekinabi” app suddenly granted to them in order to help others.

Ryuji Sakamoto meets the main character on the first day of school and kicks off the creation of the Phantom Thief team. His relationship with the protagonist is that of a “bad influence.”

Ann Takamaki is restrained in her daily life and feels she has lost her place in the world but, as a Phantom Thief, she is much more lively and energetic.

Morgana is the most “thief-like” member of the team and assumes the role of a guide for the other characters.
Yusuke Kitagawa has a certain problem of his own he is dealing with, and drama begins when he encounters the other characters. Yusuke, in particular, is tied to the “omnibus-like” story for “world reformation.”

A Japanese blog called ore-no-web4th with retail connections and well known for their regularly accurate information leaks seems to have released a hint that may be pointing to Persona 5‘s release date.

Persona 5‘s Japanese release window may have been hinted at between August 18-September 30.

If this turns out to be true I wonder if the U.S. will still get the game in December?

I love that this rumour has picked up so much steam. Atlus announced ages ago that it was coming mid 2016 and we're too far into the year for them to announce it for early summer so it makes sense that is around the time it will come out.

A countdown on the game’s official Japanese site is ticking away toward May 5th (05/05, appropriately enough) and is currently set to end at 5:30 AM PT / 8:30AM ET / 12:30PM GMT that day.

Persona 5 releases in Japan on September 15th. A 20th anniversary-themed Collector's Edition was also announced for Persona 5 in Japan, including an art book, a soundtrack with songs from previous Persona games, and series-inspired DLC, including outfits themed after Persona 3's Gekkoukan High School and Persona 4's Yasogami High School, plus Aigis and Teddie-themed costumes for Persona 5's cat character, Morgana. The set will be available for 13,800 yen.

Also during the announcement atlus confirmed the Persona 5 anime would release in September to coincide with the game. A new trailer was released and P5 will be at e3.

I wonder if Altus USA can have the game out by December or will they delay it til next year

Here's the trailer in question, just as stylish as the first:

phpBB [video]

It looks like delaying the game by a few months has really payed off, everything looks absolutely amazing and highly polished at the same time.

I mean, it may not seem like much but I love how the UI looks in this game, every menu just flows so naturally. This is beyond static text scrolling across the screen; every sub-menu looks like it has its own distinct style, like even the text is almost alive with its own energy.

RPG developers are going to be studying Persona 5 for decades to come. This is how you make a truly stylish game.

P5 info from personacentral.com spoilers concerning the Prologue for those interested.

Characters

Sakura Futaba

She has inhuman computing abilities, as a girl genius in programming capability. She is a first-year student in high school who has trouble communicating with others, however she becomes a shut-in after a certain incident.
Hashino comments that Sakura changes after encountering the hero. Her situation has special circumstances associated with it, and she has a key role in the story.
The hero in conjunction with another can use a strange head device when facing multiple opponents.

Makoto Niijima

A third year who attends the same high school (Syujin High School) as the hero. She has a strong sense of responsibility and morals as a student council president, and she is a very serious honor student who doesn’t compromise.
Hashino comments that Makoto becomes a focus in the story after the first incident at Syujin High School, where she starts to keep an eye on things. At a glance she doesn’t appear to be someone who would be part of the Phantom Thieves as a student at the academy, given her righteous nature.

Haru Okumura

A third-year high school student of Syujin High School who is the daughter to the president of a large restaurant company. Elegant but naive to the ways of the world, she tends to observe people.
Even though she is very elegant and good at communicating with others, she does not find value in human relations, and avoids having relationships with other people.
As the daughter of a company’s president, her life has always been much different from the norm.
Hashino comments that Okumura seemed to have a great relationship with her mother, the president of a company, however her experience with other adults have warped her views.
She will have a key role as the story moves forward.

Velvet Room

Caroline and Justine are the new Velvet Room’s hosts, who greet the protagonist there.

Personas

Johanna (Makoto Niijima’s persona)

This persona is based on Pope Joan, a fabled female pope from the Middle Ages in Europe.

Necronomicon (Sakura Futaba’s persona)

This persona symbolizes an unknown force.

Milady (Haru Okumura’s persona)

This persona is based on Milady de Winter of the Three Musketeers.

Story

The prologue consists of the hero confronting a man who harasses women, and subsequently being detained by the police because of the injuries he inflicts on that man. The hero is then sentenced to probation. He becomes a Phantom Thief afterwards to fight against that.
A woman in a suit by the name of “Sae Niijima” appears. Is she Makoto’s sister or mother?
The activities of the Phantom Thieves attract the attention of the government and the police force, with frequently occuring mysterious incidents in the streets.

System

As stated previously, the heroes use an app called “Isekainabi” to infiltrate the mysterious world known as “Palace.” Palace represents the distorted minds of adults, and the goal of the heroes is to steal hidden “treasure” from the world in order to reform their targets.
The progress of the game is like Persona 3 and Persona 4, as Persona 5 takes place over the course of a year. There are events such as swimming, a cultural festival, social studies tours and school trips.

Interview

The Famitsu article contains an interview with creative producer and director Katsura Hashino.

The Picaresque novel elements are ever-present throughout the game in a way to be enjoyable to the players.
Each persona is designed to embody an outlaw, reflecting characteristics of the Palace. The requirements for a persona to evolve are completely different from one another.
The reason for the Velvet Room embodying a prison is one of the great mysteries of the story.
The twins Caroline and Justine are the protagonist’s correctional officers, who act with an innocent and a sharp attitude as the Velvet Room’s child jailers. There is also a reason behind them.
There are multiple “structures” to the game’s story that are quite tricky and expand it, lending to a better feeling of immersion in the game world.

Ill post the interview when it is out in full.

Yeah, just heard the news myself. I suppose that I should be disappointed that the Western release of Persona 5 has been delayed again but honestly I'm okay with this. I fully believe that Persona 5 is worth the wait.

Until then there are other JRPGs I can focus my attention on. Actually, I've just started a new playthrough of Skies of Arcadia on my Dreamcast.

They should have a vocal song in this game caled "Delays, delays, delays" (equivalent to P3's "baby, baby, baby").

More time to devote to SMTIV: Apocalypse for 3DS. Oh wait yeah we're never getting it (Europe) and no mention of Europe release date for P5...god Atlus suck nowadays.

Looks cool but am I the only one that feels that its a little too high speed flashy for the mundane day-to-day life parts? In that video talking to the waitress feels as intense as a boss fight in persona 4 lol
