IGA joins Romscout (former wr holder) and turbodog702 for a showcase of Symphony of the Night's speedrun and glitches.

Really cool to see the dev's reaction to all these shenanigans. Starts around 2 minutes into the video.

Only a few more hours to go... In the end I decided to back this project. I'm not yet sold on the art style with its "flash" animation, but it worked for Vanillaware (ie Dragon's Crown) so there's hope. What really sealed the deal for me is that it has a co-op mode, a versus one... and it's now turning out to become a 2D version of Dark Souls with its roguelike play. I'm really impressed that this campaign is achieving all of its stretch goals, as it's of now the most funded kickstarter videogame ever.

Backed it too. Over $5 million in support for this project. So much for game publishers knowing what their audience wants and "nobody wanting" these kind of games anymore...

I really do think that most of the game publishers are so out of touch with the gaming communities nowadays.

It really is all about advertising.
I think if this game were made normally, released, and only given the same advertising exposure that any other sidescrolling digital game gets these days, it would completely back up that notion of "nobody wants this anymore."
But they did so well getting the word out on this one (and they really did go all out, plastering it wherever they could on the net) that it's turned into the most successful videogame kickstarter ever.
It sounds cynical, but oftentimes people really do need to be told what to like. It's as simple as that.

The team is having a twitch stream right now to celebrate the ending of the campaign. I just witnessed Igarashi whip a wine glass literally LOL. There's also an interview going on.

Here is the link: http://www.twitch.tv/ffstv

^^Watched a little bit, and now I'm weirdly wishing I would have contributed to the campaign, if only for the fact that I think Iga is pretty fucking cool now.
Well, if it goes the way Mighty No. 9 has, I'll preorder the game on Amazon whenever that's available. Had fun watching that SotN speedrun at the top of this page too, and it made me realize how much I actually do love a good Castlevania (or Castlevania-style) game.

This was a great campaign! It gives me serious hope for Shenmue to get crowdfunded some day and break the kickstarter record. Yu Suzuki should set a minimum of 5 million dollars!

Such an amazing success of a kickstarter for Igarashi-san. There are gonna be so many ports for this game, pretty epic.

The new trailer actually doesn't look bad:

Looks like it's really gonna turn out to be a fun 2-d platformer. Let's wait and see. I'm looking forward to it.

It looks slow and clunky. Animation is bad as well. :???:

I thought the same thing. I heard of it only once the Shenmue 3 kickstarter was announced, but reading this topic Bloodstained apparently was announced just a month prior to that.

Also, it's fantastic reading the comments on the possibility of a Shenmue kickstarter on the eve of it actually happening. A pipe dream, come to life!

Not by a long shot. The game was rescheduled to 2018 just like S3. I guess the problem is that they reached all the stretch goals, which they probably didn't see coming. Also the game will be on a lot of platforms: PC, PS4, X Bone, Vita. They even started making a Wii U version, which was cancelled.

The game is also coming to Switch. Why I feel this could be MN9 again. Gameplay doesn't look great and too many platforms stretching themselves thin. No matter how Shenmue III turns out the best decision they did was only make it for 2 platforms.
