I need to finish RDR. I played it quite late (when it was backwards compatible with xbox one) and I kinda enjoyed the vibes and themes but honestly despite getting quite far in I stopped playing around the part where you reach that industrial town, top right) and tbh I just got really bored with where the game was going. Nothing felt new/fresh at that point and the story just slowed. Mind you, I find many openworld games hard to get into/approach for long periods. But man, the likes of the later yakuza games and shenmue deal with pace/player fatigue/immersion so well, makes me appreciate just how they can do that. F.R.E.E ftw!

I was quite surprised when I saw this. Like I said does anyone else remember anything of this sort happening so early before?

Crazy. I can't really think of a similar situation with another game. They might be trying to elevate the franchise closer to GTA's level of success?

Pretty sure I've seen something like that for a Call of Duty or Halo or something.

It depends on the tv station. If you watch comedy central, you'll see video games on there all the time, especially during new south park episodes.

I think they were just saying it's weird because of how early it is (the game is pretty far off still), and the fact that it was a tv commercial not for the videogame itself, but for a teaser trailer. Game commercials in and of themselves aren't odd, but those circumstances are.

Good, that gives me time to finish the first one.

The first Red Dead Redemption is my favorite game of all time! I would gladly wait another year and a half if it means it would be polished in every possible way.

Red Dead Redemption surprised me a lot when I played it. I'm not a big fan of Westerns normally but really liked this game. I thought that the atmosphere was great, I got really immersed and I liked the characters. I remember saying to some that I found it among the better written Rockstar games. Something about the pacing and the way the characters were felt better compared to a lot of their, and others, open world games.

New trailer.
Not a fan of the main character so far. There's fun to be had when playing a bad guy, sure, but you have to straddle a fine line of "bad, but likable."
And so far this guy doesn't seem even slightly likable. Not sure I want to play as a total dickhead for the entire game. Might be one thing if he had the charisma of Lee Van Cleef (the "Bad" in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), but he doesn't. At least John Marston was just formerly-bad, but trying to make good. Grey area goes a long way. But this guy just seems like a straight up villain. And Rockstar seems to have trouble writing likable villains.
So yeah. Not sure on this one yet.

Yeah. Morgan doesn’t seem very likable. I really hope this isn’t a three protagonist game like GTA 5. I hated bouncing back and forth between characters. At some point I think John Marston will be involved in the story.

RDR had a story? I just played poker and got killed by mountain lions and bears while looking at the scenery.

That first time took years off your life, didn’t it? I remember hearing the faint call of a mountain lion in the distance. And I thought “That sounded like a big cat. I better watch ou”—dead.
