Only $20? :?

Microsoft will probably follow and do the same. Around $150-$170 in a few months. I can't really see GC dropping under $150, though..

$20 is a lot of money to these companies...factor that in with the 1-2 million systems they plan on selling in Q4 and you'll see that $20 turns out to be a pretty big chunk of potential revenue that is lost when a price drop goes into effect.

Of course, the offset of this is that they'll sell more systems and thus, game sales will increase which is where the bulk of the profit is made.

Microsoft counters by matching Sony's $179.99 price.

In Australia there pretty much throwing Gamecubes away. A gamecube with a copy of Zelda the wind Waker is only $100.
But so far the Playstation and X-box hav'nt gone down in price yet.

most companies achually lose money on the game console and make it on the games, thats why the dreamcast died, you needed to buy 7 £40 games for sega to break even. Most people bought 1 £40 game, 2 £20 games, and about 50 CDR games. i own 13 full games and about 90 cdr games.

sony and MS make a loss on consoles so i dont know how many games they have to sell to break even.

oh and my friend met bill gates to day, he was in brighton
