I think the people who complain about such a thing are missing the entire point of being an actor.

Actors get paid to perform as someone else. Where they come from shouldn't matter in the slightest. I'm sure there are many american actors who can put on a british accent and do the job no problem.

But you're right. People will end up complaining regardless.

I hate to use this term but in this case I have to agree with Joe.
Too much quick make a buck shit is released these days from Hollywood and people flock like sheep.
Though been some good ones like the Batman,Ironman,Green hornet,Hulk were pretty enjoyable for what they were.
Though Sin City and V for Vendetta was truly great.
Watchmen tried hard but even though I never read the comic I just felt it lacked something.
300 just didn't do it for me but did enjoy the first Robocop.

Yes, on the plus side, V for Vendetta was brilliant and I would be willing to watch more films like that.

I also think Batman is no way near as good as people make it out to be. He might be one of the cooler superheros and all, but TDK just wasn't that great from my point of view. I much preferred Begins.

And i'm a massive Nolan fan, too.

I shouldn't say it is stupid that they hire Brits to play American superheroes. Maybe it's that it is ironic.

I don't have a problem with it because for sure it is part of being an actor. But you mean to tell me that you can't find one American more suited to play the role than this douchebag? And Christian Bale is horrible as Batman so maybe they should think about American's some more.

This is like the Social Network discussion.

Who cares if they aren't American, British, or whatever? I found out Bale was British a little after TDK came out. Didn't care about that but did care that his acting wasn't up to par. Similarly, Heath Ledger was Australian and he pulled off the american icon, The Joker, very well.

So this guy is not American? Boo fucking hoo. If they can come up with a compelling reason to watch this Superman film, i'll buy into it. Similarly, if they somehow picked an American to be James Bond well he better pull off a great accent otherwise it'd be hard to buy into. But if he could, I wouldn't really care because otherwise I wouldn't know the difference.

Never enters my mind if they are british or american. I liked Bale as batman just hated the stupid voice. Though like clint I liked TDK but didnt think it was great. TBH some points got got boring for me.

As long as he was good, I wouldn't care. I remember all the backlash for Craig since he's blond, I mean really. Grow up.

I wonder how people would react if all these white superheroes were cast as black, asian, indian, native american, latino.
Or ethnic heroes cast as white.
Just curious to see peoples reactions.

^It sort of depends on the actors and the roles they're playing I suppose. It's all about context. Speaking of the sudden influx of comic book movies getting made nowadays...where's my Spawn movie at? If done right, that would be brilliant. I personally don't give a shit about any of the ones getting made at the moment or coming out, aside from Batman 3.

As cheesy as it was,I liked Spawn.
Great spfx for then and the cape was great. I remember john liguizomo (sp) puked after the scene where he ate the pizza with maggots.

Pierce Brosnan wanted an english black man to play the next Bond. He was in one of the Bond movies in another role, don't remember the name.

Indeed. I find it strange how these companies are using the more whiter than white characters for their subject matter when they could easily just switch to a more conflicted and essentially "darker" (for want of a better word) premise. Obviously this major boom coincides with The Dark Knight's unparalleld success, everyone wants a slice of the action, but they're choosing the fucking Brady Bunch characters like Superman (again) and Spiderman (again), oh and lest we forget X-Men (again). Try adapting something a bit more interesting like The Sandman.

I wouldn't mind. I know everyone isn't the biggest fan of Daredevil but the guy from Green Mile who played Kingpin did a great job.

real shame about Micheal Clark Duncan.
He is a pretty good actor but keeps getting typecast in terrible films.
