I doubt he sold it because of the money he said he wants to retire so I'm sure it's just a way to pass on the torch. He recently gave away half of his money to charity so his a generous guy.

Lucas always mentioned a plan for an episodes 7-9 especially after the first movie was a smash hit. The whole Jedi Order thing was the only idea he announced, who knows if he came up with more stuff. He only gave up after people in the real world kept blasting the Prequels and didn't want people giving him shit anymore.

This film series turned form ground breaking and a breath of fresh air to tired and shit quite quick and it began with the Star Wars Christmas Special when he turned to the dollar $$$. GL's amazing idea. Also to b e fair Disney did a bang up job with Tron IMO so they can do a sequel to a trusted and beloved sci fi series. True Star Wars has the biggest one next to Star Trek if not bigger,still with fresh blood might have a new hope.
