So after hearing their new album, I was inspired to go back and listen to my favourite Onyx record, All We Got Iz Us. Definitely their best album, it's a masterpiece of dark angry rap. Super dope production too.

Been listening to the album School of Hard Knocks by the Hard Knocks today. Man, I forgot what an ill gem of an album that was. Came out in 92, but still sounds totally fresh today.

Yeah, I've been listening to copious amounts of rap recently, just been in one of those moods. Been listening to a lot of golden era stuff recently, especially from the Juice crew.

This Brand New Heavies Kool G Rap track is brilliant

"You think you're down with the murder guys. bullshit! Say hello to that dirt you're gonna fertilize"

I love this Biggie quote in an ad for G Rap's 4,5,6 album that ran in The Source back in the day:

 Can you if imagine that was published today

That biggie quote is awesome. There should be back cover quotes like that on classic albums. Treat it like great literature, but in a more hood way.

They need to release a full DVD or album of him doing this with a live band.

Seen this yet? http://rappers.mdaniels.com.s3-website- ... onaws.com/

Pretty much exactly how you'd probably imagine it would look like. But now it's been scientifically proven.

Yeah, seen that last night. There is the odd surprise or two at first, but not when you actually think about it. DMX trailing at the back, along with it being congested with Southern rappers are probably the only predictions I got right though.

Still, a high vocabulary doesn't necessarily count for much. It's the way they use it that matters.

Definitely the first one, hands down. Love that piano, and love that vocal sample at the intro and outro. Love that song. Don't like the Green Lantern version at all.

It wasn't Green Lantern, it was Cool & Dre. I'm just constantly baffled by how different they are, but how well they fit each other. Depending on your mood at the time, one is significantly better than the other, then your view (well, my view, at least) changes as soon as my mood does.
