Wait, what? I knew that the average wage was quite high over there, but there can't be many single parents on $260k a year, surely!?

What do you mean "high"? You think feeding two kids on $260,000 a year is easy? Or feeding four kids on $650,000 is all fun in the sun? If it were, the people in the illustration would not look so overwhelmingly depressed. $650,000 just doesn't stretch as far as it used to for feeding a hungry family these days. I think they look sad because Obama's taxes are going to reduce them to food stamps at this rate.

SEM, this makes sense when you realize what people actually make. As an example, my parents are teachers and they combined bring in less then 60k a year. Most people working at game dev studios (which is considered a big money industry) take in less then 50k and gamestop managers in NYC generally don't make over 30k.

This is also the higher end of what "middle class" people make in urban areas considering New York City is one of the most expensive cities in America to even live in.

Anyone who doesn't own their own business and employ several people isn't middle class. He's proletarian. All the anger surrounding this issue is mostly just workers who genuinely believed they were middle class because they had a big TV being exposed to the truth for the very first time in their lives, and it was humiliating. Hence, they want to take out their anger on the actual middle class, rather than tax the actual aristocrats out of existence. And the aristocrats like that just fine, 'cause they don't want to compete against the actual middle class for fear of being supplanted. Ergo, they just shut up and hide while our social democrats tax small businesses out of existence, and feed their blood to the furious workers who are too stupid to realize that they've just solidified their socio-economic situation for a thousand years.

Fact is, even $650k is just a piss in the bucket to our typical billionaires, yet, the state plateaus the income tax at the level of small businesses in order to destroy the actual middle class. Several thousand dollars might have allowed a guy to hire another worker; now it go to the state to invest in irrational wars, congressional pensions, to subsidize union and lumpenproletariat idleness, and military-industrial projects for big businesses (which owners are identical with the state). Ma 'n Pa shops die, state-backed corps spread like Zerg creep.

He's guilty, but I suspect that is hardly the reason the people and committees are cracking down on him. Most professional cyclists dope. That's the nature of the sport, so many do it that it is not so much an advantage to do as much as it is a disadvantage not to do. Doping isn't an advantage if everyone else is doing it too, it's just the new baseline. But few go after them with the zeal or levi the kind of punishments that they have gone with in taking Armstrong down. I suspect Armstrong is public enemy number one not because he doped but because he's an asshole. He has been the kind of thug that would make the mob proud, buying people off or intimidating them into silence with all the grace of a wise guy.
