some will call her a traitor but it seemed the US gov was getting up to some evil stuff ( i'll never forget that Apache helicopter video )

Good for her. 35 years for a data leak was positively ludicrous. Americans who outright sold state secrets for money received less. Naturally it is not as though she is free and clear regardless of course. Living life on the outside as a transwoman is already no picnic. To have a criminal record when the whole country knows your face and many of they hate you all piled on top will all but ensure she will never know a basic sense of safety or security ever again. Perhaps not even a sense of financial stability either.

^At the time these leaks were made, I immediately dismissed all of these leakers as traitors. But right now, as a guy who quit his job in US intelligence for ethical reasons, I am not as quick to demonize them. Not to say I agree with their decisions to release what they did, though... Shit's hella complicated. I agree with the pardon, though, and right now maybe the US needs ethical watchdogs more than anything else. In the international setting, it is really hard to justify the US as the good guys right now.

Terribly sorry if this comes across as advertising, but an animal charity I do some voluntary work for is currently trying to raise funds in order to pay for an operation for Scooby, a cat who was hit by a car recently, causing the poor thing to sustain a fractured femur and internal injuries. The fucks who used to own this cat immediately abandoned him upon finding out about the accident, so the charity took the cat in and brought him to the vets where the full extent of the injuries were revealed. The cost of the operation is estimated between £700-£1000, which will be a massive hit to the charity's budget (which is funded entirely by donations, adoption fees, and out of the owner's own pocket), hence why they've turned to crowd-funding in order to ease things up.

If you can contribute absolutely anything, it would help a tonne.

You were in US intelligence? What was it that became the breaking point in your job and what do you do now instead?

He deleted the response, but I saw it. He said he is a secret agent but "obviously cannot go into details." He basically said the data he gathered and analysed helped uncover and stop complex terrorist networks. That he did too good of a job and they didn't like it. He was under pressure from top brass once he worked his way to the top of the terrorist food chain. (summary, not word for word)

He also saved the president once. This all happened in one hour increments over a 24 hour period.

I truly understood what it was like to have a proper addiction when I started this vaping/e-cig malarkey, which I never had from real cigarettes or beer or whatever. But after seeing that guy in the news damn well get his face blown off by one the other day I've said fuck that.

The problem is I am so addicted that even though I am afraid to use the thing now, I still do because I am so hooked. So I've taken drastic steps and got a load of this Champix stuff to try and best it once and for all. I know it's fucked up shit with mixed reviews and horror stories but I have to try. I've been on medication which is also a depressant before, but I am not mental so I am praying for some non symptoms. Also read about the risks to the heart so hopefully it doesn't end me before Shenmue 3 comes out.

Okay, I thought the news you heard was interesting enough (as a vape pen user myself) so I went deep and I found out that the thing the guy was smoking was not a regular vaporizer pen, but some kind of hybrid mechanical mod with a rebuildable atomizer on it (sounds like a custom built PC). Anyway it looks something like these:

The battery that exploded in the incident was exactly this one:

To give you a perspective, the exploding Galaxy Note 7 battery was a 3500 mAh one and about the same size.

So Peter, as long as you are not custom building flashlight sized e-cigs yourself you should be fine. We still need you around and another $10k preferably by the time Shenmue 4 Kickstarter comes around. :D

Ah. Stupid modding. You deserve that shit for that. Messing about with something you have around your face and hands.

Either way I want to give it up. I just can't. I've already got these tablets so gonna give them a go and kick the habit once and for all.

You two know the regular pens have blown up in people's face before right? I mean its extremely rare, just like this case, but its been in the news many times before. The chaces of it happening to one of you is slim to none. But the size of a battery exploding is irrelevant when it does so while touching your face :D

I guess, but together with the fact we all are already willingly walking around with a mobile time bomb in our pockets (also having it on our faces and hands from time to time), I'll take my chances. Might as well enjoy living life dangerously.

I can't get the paranoia out of my head now though. It's planted in there every time I take a puff. See how these tablets go and fingers crossed that's me sorted. Also hope it sorts my snoring out since it drives her nuts.
