John Petrucci wrote:Read my post please, I said evolution is fact, but was put into motion by god. How many cultures have had a god or religion of some kind? Can all those people be wrong and you right? Do you think all of the 2 billion Christians are just idiots and would follow some "made up stories"? We have faith in Jesus our God, we don't need "proof" for everything.

The main problem with this is that there's so many different religions and many of them are very contradicting of others...Sure there are billions of Christians, but there are also billions of Muslims, Buddhists, ect...It's maddening for me to attempt to figure out how people can be so sure of their beliefs simply because many others have them as well...While at the same time many others belive things that are quite opposite...

John Petrucci wrote:The are a few similarities between Islam and Christianity, which are the two largest religions.

My point is that most of them (current religions) and others before them have believed in a creator of some kind. They can't all be wrong about that. It's not about being "right" or "wrong" in regards to religion, it's about being a good person for me at least.

For millions of years, almost everyone believed that the world was flat...Yet one person proved them wrong. I've got nothing against religion helping peope to be better people, in fact, I've always been a fan of Buddhism for that very reason...But when religion trys to use explinations of reality as grounds for reason to believe them, is the point at which I stop taking them seriously.

Also, why is it that Christians get bashed the most on these forums and by people who don't believe in general? Why don't Jewish people? Why not Muslims? Why not anyone else? Why is it "right" to bash us?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Christians get bashed...not argeeing with what someone says is a bit different than "bashing" them. And besides, you don't really see too many Muslims or Jews on these forums anyways...and if there were it's not as though everyone would take their side and gang up on the Christians.

I like Buddhism because it is more about the way one lives their life than believing in a God or following a set of rules. With Buddhism there is no heaven or hell, simply your life for you to live.

As for the rest of your post, no one is making insults or make derogatory comments towards Christianity, just saying that they don't believe in it. I fail to see what you mean by saying that Christianity is prevalant. Just because the bible covers subjects such as doubt and disblief, doesn't somehow make it imune to criticism...

I belive in plenty of things which I cannot see, but organized religion is not one of them. I have nothing against Christianity and I have nothing against any other religions...I just get annoyed with any faith that acts as though they have a monopoly on the truth.

Well...excuse me as well...I suppose my comments may have came off a bit rude as well...

I'm not sure that I'm quite understanding everything you say, and I don't think you're quite getting everything that I've said either. I don't mean to call any of the bible lies, but I wouldn't say that it's set in stone either. You are correct in saying that I'm rather uninformed about religion, but I'm not entirely ignorant. I feel that everyone should be free to believe whatever they choose...The main reason I tend to spout off about religion is that I tend to get hit up quite a bit by those people who go door to door and stand on street corners...I'm defintley not saying that your religion is like that, but the many experiences I've had with such people has made me easily irritated about religion...

Anyhow...why don't we just agree to disagree?

I was just thinking about this topic the other day and came up with a question: If the universe was created by a big bang, how did the big bang start?
