Sailors? wrote:So yeah, me saying "I think the show is better" is not really different at all from saying "Oh well I prefer the TV show." I've given my reasons why, yet what are your reasons for enjoying the comic more? I'm telling you now it still all boils down to opinion, and ours clearly differ.
But it is. I already stated I respect your opinion, but your original post was more of a statement, hence why I even replied in the first place. Allow me make up an random example (just making it up btw).
That's like me saying I prefer Final Fantasy to Ys. Why? I don't know, I briefly checked out a five minute YouTube video and wasn't really feeling the art direction or music.
^ Shallow? Yes. An opinion? Sure. Premature? Obviously, but not everyone can delve into every game, series, medium, etc. Sometimes we make premature opinions on things, we do this every single day in our daily lives. You may be wrong, as sometimes first impressions are off and you end up loving something later, but there's nothing wrong in doing so.
However if I said I feel Final Fantasy is better than Ys, I'd need a good amount of time with both.
^ I feel something as such can only be said after putting in enough time to fully understand both products, it's a statement that compares two objects and their worth.
So my problem? You only know the worth of one product, so why even bother comparing them? There is a difference between preferring something on a whim and touting something as better.
At the end of the day I respect you and your opinion, literally. I simply know how good the comic gets and I know you haven't read or experienced those arcs yet, which is why I find it repulsive to hear someone compare something they haven't experienced. That was why I added rolling eyes and now I hope you understand why, in no way was it because you preferred one medium to another. If you had read the comic deep enough to really see it's intentions and strong points and still preferred the TV show, I'd completely respect your opinion. It would surprise me a little, but nevertheless, it's great to have differing opinions as it keeps entertainment and conversation fresh. Hope you understand where I'm coming from, it has nothing nothing at all to do with your view points, simply wording.
