Flash Gordon, 1980. The Dojo is just like this movie. No joke.

Here's me:

If the Dojo is just like Flash Gorden, would that make me Princess Aura, the one with the insatiable appetite for countless lovers? :rotflmao:

^Sadly, I didn't enjoy it that much. Probably Tarantino's worst, he overindulged on that one. It sucks cause the script was really good.

Overall I enjoyed it. I do agree it was over done sometimes but it certainly was a crazy beast of its own. I cant think of a more brutal emotion drivin action movie. A more subtle approach would have been welcomed but I cant blame QT for wanting to do violence his way. I was just expecting more inglorious bastards level of violence not the ending of kill bill vol. 1 x200%

^^I'm oddly even more interested now...
The main thing turning me off from it is the presence of Jaimie Fox. The guy's a narcissistic asshat. I just wish Tarantino would have cast someone else, as the rest of it looks cool to me. I don't even mind Leonardo DiCaprio trying to be a badguy.

I thought the violence was fine, surprisingly. People said it was too over the top but I didn't mind it, it was maybe too prolonged to the point where it was no longer shocking.

But the original standoff that was written was much better. It had a real tense standoff feel to it. Here it was just "WHAM BAM, okay we're done here." There were things like about the horses and the stable boy that added alot to the character of Django and King Schultz but were cut probably for pacing, the original script was about 160 pages which is like a three hour movie.

I'm also real disappointed with Tarantino's style of direction now. He dropped the whole Sergio Leone thing and is now doing what Robert Rodriguez is doing with the quick, hyper stylized cuts and zoom ins. That's fine for Rodriguez but for Tarantino, its pretty underwhelming. Regardless, i'm still looking forward to Kill Bill Vol. 3.
