The Artist - Barely starting it, but so far it's better than the other two.

Watched a few films in the last few days.

Remember seeing the trailer for it when it first came out at the cinema and wanted to see it. Don't know what took me so long since I've always had a copy. Enjoyed it very much.

Fucking hilarious. If you can sit back and not take a movie seriously you have to see this.

Possibly my least favorite James Cameron film but still fun. Can't see myself sitting through it again though.

Also ordered a bunch of Blu Rays since I had some Christmas vouchers to use:

Seen that new movie Gangster Squad at the cinema last night. It was pretty good i must admit. I didnt really get into it at the start mainly because it was quite simply LA Noire: the movie, but then the story picked up halfway through. It was a decent story, but it was the A list cast which made it. Hats off to Sean Penn again. The man is just brilliant in every role he plays. Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Robert Patrick, Nick Nolte and Giovanni Ribissi all helped raise the movie to an above average flick. I would reccomend seeing it, if just for Sean Penn.

Looking forward to going back to see The Flight, Django Unchained and Lincoln when i get a chance, but the movies in Australia are so damn expensive at $18 a shout. Then popcorn and drink is $10 so its not a cheap date lol.

Just finished this.

As a fan of the graphic novel I think they did a decent job of adapting the story for a feature and although there was a little too much exposition in Part 1 for my liking I was pleasantly surprised by some of the minor story alterations. Setting aside the wonderful source material I have to say that I loved Peter Weller as Batman and the musical score was perfect.

I know there are quite a few comic fans on here, I'd like to know what you guys thought of it.

As much as I like that scene I think it's a good example of the unnecessary exposition. In the comic Batman is internally narrating the line about "the right kind of cut" and the "nerve bundle" when it came to translating the comic into a feature I think those observations should have went unsaid.

Lawless. Ok but a bit too slow at times and Guy Pearce's character was too much a Hollywood villain and Gary Oldman was wasted.

^^Funny how polarizing Tarantino flicks seem to be these days. :lol:

I've heards it's amazing, I've heard it sucks. Probably even more interested now because of it.

I loved it. I loved the characters (to the point of Jamie Fox being overshadowed) I loved the villains. DiCaprio actually cut his hand unintentionally in one scene but stayed in character and did something very gruesome with it that was completely unexpected by the cast and crew. (The actors shock is genuine! Tarantino chose the take for the final film. ) The movie tells a pretty sad, sadistic tale of the racist south that doesn't compromise the reality of the era or mince words or try to water itself down to pander to a wider audience. It's Tarantino as you probably expect and he makes no apologies.
