Fight Club last night.
Fuck, that movie is great. I'd seen it before, but its greatness can never be stressed enough.

Watched Prisoners last week. My favourite film from this year so far, easily. Felt like a Fincher film in plenty of ways (beautifully shot, incredibly well acted and plotted serial killer film). Maybe it's become one of my favourite films, don't know, will have to give it some more time. I loved the musical score anyway, the movie was so atmospheric and tense.

I still dont understand how it got such little recognition back in 1999 when it came out. I think it was just that ahead of its time.

Pretty much. It received polarizing reviews at the time, which years later were rescinded and now THOSE critics hail it as one of the greatest films of all time.

That's when I stopped taking critics seriously. It was clear to me they only changed their stance so they wouldn't look like the pompous assholes they were in a desperate attempt to save face.

I wasn't keen on it when I first saw it but I've warmed to it with a couple more viewings.

I'll tell you an overrated film though: Pulp Fiction.

Eh, I'd say Pulp is one of Tarantino's better films; it's everything he made after the 90s that I don't like.

I've only seen that and Reservoir Dogs. Which I really enjoyed compared to Pulp Fiction..

Carrie (2013)

I liked it for the most part, mostly for Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore. Biggest problem I had with it was that it was too over the top, like they REALLY had to hammer it in that she's an awkward loser and that everything was going so wrong for her. They could've dialed it back a bit, unless she was supposed to be all hyperneurotic and amish in the book.

Still it was fun. Won't mind seeing it again for those performances alone.

How the West was Won.

Good film, caught a rare showing at a theater here. The gimmick for this was that they put three cameras side by side and filmed everything at the same time, so when it was shown in theaters it'd have a much wider look to it. You can see the landscapes and all the extras doing shit in the background more than you usually would. It was also a good movie too, interesting concept. It was a three hour movie on how four generations of families lived in the wild west era.

Escape Plan.

I saw this one afterwards. Holy shit, it was awesome. The story was near flawless, such a MacGyver-like story about escaping an "unbreakable" prison with Stallone and Schwarzenegger. Basically a throwback to the 1980s action films except this had an exceptionally well told story. There were like two flaws I could spot, but everything else was undeniable great. Definitely a recommend if you like old school action movies and intricate plot work (still amazed how they pulled this off with ahnald and uuurgh sly).

God. Seems like all I've done today is watch films..

Columbo: Murder Blueprints
Only very recently got into Columbo. I do like a good detective story. He always seems to not know what he's doing and then bang! As a viewer you always think you're one step ahead and you know who did it. Ol' Columbo won't stand for such nonsense.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch
There was a film of this? Apparently it served as a pilot for the TV series. Featuring the most mature and acne-free group of high schoolers ever who all look older than the age they supposedly are. The trials and tribulations of juggling your new witch powers whilst battling hormones, chasing the most poplar guy in school whilst being stalked by your loser best friend love interest and bullied by the popular guys socialite bitch girlfriend. One for the kids, this one.

Death Becomes Her
I really wish Bruce Willis would do drama-comedy again. As much a I want Zemeckis to stop making 3D Toy Story cartoon crap. Meryl Streep is such a good actress you don't realise. Dark humour will go a miss to some people, not me though. Wholly recommend.

Casper
Christina Ricci has an infinite beauty. She deserves to be bigger than she is now. Maybe she is and I'm unaware of it? I remember seeing this in the cinema back in 96. Laughed out loud at some of the cameos now I'm old enough to recognise them. Never too old for this shit..

The Fugitive
I didn't know either Al Pacino or Collin Farrell when I first saw this on TV. So much so I can't even remember when I first saw it. Keeps you guessing who knows what, why did that happen, and why he said that to her. Also wondering what Colin Farrell is famous for?

Went to see Thor: The Dark World the other day.

Probabley the worst Marvel film in the cinimatic universe but it was still a good movie. I don't know if it's just that I don't like Thor as much but I would have said the first Thor was the worst out of the films before the Avengers. Still I can't wait for Captain America and even though Shield has been dissapointing I'm intrested in this crossover episode they're doing in a few weeks.
