How does the world view Canada?

Postby Sunming Zhao » Thu Sep 01, 2005 10:02 am

I'm just curious what all you people think of my country?

Oh and if any Canadians wander on here, post where you're from.
Myself, I'm from New Brunswick.

I dont know how I feel about canucks. I like their country ,its nice but they can't fight a war if their lives actually depended on it.

Other than that, Canada is fine

Everyone I know seems to hold Canada in high regard. Though I feel sorry for Canadians. They live in the snow, next to America, with the French. ;)

Well I'm not sure about now a days but back in World War I and II Canadians spearheaded some of the most successful campaigns fought by the allies.

Like Vimy Ridge in WW I
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vimy_ridge

And Juno Beach on D-day of WW II where we were the only ones to reach and capture our objective past the beach. The town of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juno_Beach

And also we are known to have the best snipers in the world. Like the longest-ever recorded and confirmed sniper kill was made by Master Corporal Arron Perry of the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan during combat in 2003. Using a .50-caliber (12.7 mm) MacMillan TAC-50 rifle, Perry shot and killed an opposing combatant soldier from a distance of 2,430 metres(1.5 miles).

Again like I said though, besides our snipers which are often recruited by US special forces, I'm not sure how our army is today in comparison.

Haha, well it's not snowing all the time here ya know. We have four distinct seasons. Although yeah winter is the longest. :)
I'll give you that about the French though, they can be snooty sometimes. Uh oh, hope my girlfriend doesn't hear that. (She's French)

I went to Canada when I was very little, too little to remember. I do think Canada is pretty cool though, good relations with the UK too.

I like Canada. I like all the Canadian people I've met and I used to live so far up north that Canadians and Americans weren't really distinguished. I had Canadian neighbors, took trips to Toronto. It's really nice. And btw, can't fight a war? They were a key player in WWII!

Yup! Valuable part of the Allies side. Britain's biggest ally.
