My favourite author. If I'd never read his books when I was young, I don't think I'd be interested in science, history...anything really. It sounds cheesy but I owe a lot of my personality and interests to what I learned from him. He taught me about medical science, the middle ages, quantum physics, exo-biology and so much more. He caused me to research properly the themes he addressed in his novels.
Funnily enough I finished reading Timeline for what must be the 10th time last night, and I gave a lot of thought to what I said above. Strange timing really. I can't help but think of the dying words of Andre Marek in that novel. I really hope it applies to him as well. "I have chosen a good life."
RIP Mike, from a lifelong fan.
