Hey, if it's true we're gonna have to clear out soon, I think we should keep the ShenmueDojo name, and perhaps take down the number of Shenmue boards to just 'Shenmue I & II' and 'Shenmue III'. Then we can have our general discussion, junk forum creativity forum and general gaming boards, we have a real community going here, I have memories of this place too.

We could treat it like an e-fraternity where the initiation is to complete Shenmue I & II

Maybe all you folks should start a non-Shenmue gaming/general discussion site. It's too much of a niche. People aren't playing the game much anymore, maybe some ironic 'replays' on Something Awful or what have you, but there's no future userbase to draw from.

Unless Shenmue III comes out, which has seemed unlikely since... I don't know, since I've been a member here. Weirdly, I don't check in as much as I used to, it's going to be my sixth anniversary in two days.

Still, when that last day is coming, folks should reach out to all the older members they know and see if they can get a bit of a reunion going. People pop in one final time, one last kiss to send this forum into oblivion.

I also think so actually. Even if not much might ever happen regarding the series, I think that it would be a pity to lose that name. It would be cool to see it continue to be the place to go to for Shenmue-related things. Even if most of the topics will be general gaming related just as now.
Creating a general forum wouldn't attract more people I think since there are countless general video games forums already. And most people joining then would be the same ones that we already have here anyway. Having it Shenmue-related could in a way even make it stand it a bit more.

Although, if I'm not mistaken, this has happened before right? I mean sure it was in 2003 when Shenmue was MUCH more popular than it is now, but I do remember moving in here from some old version of the dojo...I barely remember anything about it other than it was in a red and black Web 2.0 style.

Anyway, whether or not this forum will live or die I don't know, but I'll ride it out till the end.

We could create a Faction, or sub-forum on the Gametrailers website. Very populated website with a lot of Shenmue fans who don't come here no matter how much I ask.

I think i'm actually going to be an absolute cunt on the last day. Racism, porn, beastiality, spam etc. I'm going out with a bang. I've got a feeling it would be the best day this forum has seen in years.

We need all the ego's and top characters unbanned (QWERTY, Mittens, RedRum, TEEPO etc.) and invites/reminders to previous members to see how many we can get together for the funeral of the dojo.

Though I consider Pandora's Box to be EPIC, it would make people like SpringChick uncomfortable. And we need girls here. Some days, it's already a sausage fest here. You don't want to turn it into a whole buffet, right?

Anyhow, in a way, I'm sad the Dojo will have to move on. On the other hand, it's also a bit exciting. All change is. I don't participate at all in the Shenmue forums 'cause, well, my DC died a year ago, and it's been a long time since I played the game. I stop by because I love the community. It's not some fanboy-infested, infected ulcer at the heart of the Internet like, say, GameTrailers is. And to the person that suggested publicizing the new forums there, if you do it, you can count me out of that place. It won't be the same thing. Oh, and it will be HELL to moderate.
