I couldn't stand Gilmore Girls because it all felt so forced.
But I'm almost intrigued by this one just because of your glowing response to it.

Episode six on Bunheads.

Yeah. I fucking love this show. The guy inside me is crying for me liking a show about ballet though.

Not a TV series so to speak, but I've started watching the sequel to Tokyo Swan when Rodger travels to Iwate under the JET program to teach English. It's now called Iwate Swan. Can't believe it was back in 2009 that he died..

Orange is the New Black.

The pilot was kinda shaky since the reason the main character went to prison was presented in a confusing fashion and just not good enough in my eyes. Thankfully the foundation is rock solid, the characters are great and I can see plenty of story with this series. Second episode is much better so far.

Newsroom Season 2.

Wow...so far this season has been horrifically underwhelming. It really feels like they were pushing material out the door as fast as possible to get it on the air. The stories are now way too convenient and abrupt, two episodes in and I can hardly tell what is going on in the grand scheme of things unlike the first season where everything flowed so smoothly. And that ruins the captivating storyline they had going here.

I'll keep watching but if it keeps going downhill, I won't be looking forward to a third season. And that's really a damn shame too cause season one had me convinced this was the best show in recent years.

My dad and I just watched the Pilot episode of The Newsroom. I thought it was great, it's a shame to hear that about season 2 though :/

I'm not in a position to fully judge it or anything since I haven't seen anything from earlier, but I saw a single episode within the past few weeks and didn't quite like what I saw because it felt like it had a political agenda. Like it was clearly taking one side, and doing its damnedest to make the other look shitty. Then Jeff Daniels and some chick started referencing old British rock as a parallel to something else they were talking about, and it all struck me as kind of vague and forced.
Granted, I was just jumping into it with no prior knowledge of anything so I'm not in the best position to critique it on its merits or whatever, but I've always thought that the best shows are able to grab you somehow, even if you jump in mid-story... but I just didn't feel that with this one.
I actually want to like it though, because Jeff Daniels is a fantastic actor. Always liked that guy.

It is biased. Jeff Daniels' character is supposed to be conservative but he says alot of things that are more liberal, the show has been criticized for being too one sided. The dialogue style is all Aaron Sorkin, which you'll either love it or hate it. The characters say things at a million words a second and often make references to shit like Don Quixote.

I thought it worked perfectly last season but things are still running dry this season. By the third episode, everything is still flat. There are no heart to heart character interactions that feel natural or intense moments like this one:

Even though you know what's going to happen and it seems like a bit of an over-dramatization, I thought it worked really well.

^^See, that was actually really good. If I'd flipped the channel to it during that, I would have kept watching, even despite not knowing the characters or anything. That's a good show at work.
I don't think I saw anything like that in the one episode I saw, so you may be right about it running a bit dry.

Have you guys ever seen The West Wing? Also written by Aaron Sorkin and very good. It's been over for quite some time now though.

I watched the first 8 episodes of Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers season 1 and the first 5 episodes of Duck Tales season 1. I gotta say both shows are just as good as I remember them as a kid. Very imaginative, variety of locales in both shows and great characters and a good production. I say they still stand up.
