Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish relegated due to an illegal cross over. This new thing caught a lot out earlier in the year. They broke the WR in their first race then the race after China beat it then beat their own shortly after.

Gymnastics is kind of a maddening event. Obviously there's a lot of technical factors to take into consideration, which is ultimately what the athletes are judged on, but there's also the matter of personal style.
Caught the end of the women's gymnastics floor competition earlier, and I have to say, I quite enjoyed watching the Russian performances more than those of the Americans. Something about them just felt smoother and more fluid in a lot of ways. Aside from the obvious flips and tumbles, the in-between movements of the Russians felt more like classical dance, which I liked a lot, as opposed to the goofier-looking moves of their competitors.
All were amazingly talented, obviously, but if I had to choose, I'd say I'd rather watch the Russians.
Just another case of the "best" not necessarily matching up with "favorites", I guess.

Wow.
I obviously don't follow the "sport" (does it qualify as a sport, or would it be something else? Not sure on the terminology) regularly, but those were some crazy moves. Never seen that kind of work on the uneven bars.

Squirrel Girl? I was going to guess Beth Tweddle as it was about gymastics before but I don't know how she did...

And on that video, I'm betting under the current scoring system it wouldn't get many points now it's been shifted more towards actual difficulty of moves than just the execution of them. That said, Perfect 10 doesn't exist in gymnastics anymore.

Agree i mean compare that to the vid i posted on page 2. I think Tweddle's smokes it.
