Posted: Thu Jan 17, 2013 7:50 pmThat serves as a bitter reminder to me back when I was still in denial about being transgendered and lied about being a woman in WoW, going so far as to carry on a relationship under those false pretenses. Deception only ends up hurting the people you care about in the long run however and I did not fully realize that until I knew I had to own up to my mistakes by telling the truth and dealing with the embarrassment that resulted. I was deluding myself as much as I was anyone else. That kind of deception is the worst of all. Even now after all this time and taking serious measures to be true to myself and getting my life on track does my failure weigh on me every day. A moment of enlightenment is small compensation for breaking the heart of the person you cared most for in this world.
The people behind this hoax however went farther than I could ever have dreamed. Pretending to have cancer and dying is an extreme not even I would have considered in my weakest moment. As if that were not enough, the people behind the hoax never came forward about it once it became clear their deception had gotten out of hand. They doubled down on the lie to the very end and it has now exploded in everyone's faces.

If I had to form a hunch... I suspect the player knew about what was going on and was in on it. He never visited her when she came down with "cancer" or was in a "car accident" and was content to miss her "funeral" and just keep chugging along with football without missing a beat? I suspect he may even be gay and for that very reason. The NFL let's a long of things slide when signing on high profile players for millions, but players that are gay are not among them. They can go for serious criminals and potential murderers like Ray Lewis, but they would never allow a queer in their midst's. Pretending to have a relationship with a woman then conveniently killing her off is one possible way to downplay any rumors and secure, not jeopardize his NFL pick.
