Oddest Food You Had (Or Wanna Try)

After looking at "No Reservations" and reading a random Cracked article, it got me thinking. What's the weirdest meal you ever had or like to have?

One I love is called Balut. Which is an aborted duck or chicken egg.

The image can be disturbing to people but if you get past the way it looks, its the most delicious thing ever. Its like a really good egg soup. Once I get a rice heater and fridge, i'm getting me some.

One I would like to try is Svið or Pacha, basically a Sheep's Head.

There's an extra in the dvd for Hostel where the Icelandic actor was eating it, describing how you eat it and what the individual parts taste like. Been wanting it ever since.

from what I've heard nordic food is very "special" very few like it and it wasn't made for taste but for all the calories to be able to get through the winter better, well let us know how it tastes if you even find it, the Danish also make it I think

When in Tokyo, we were looking for raw horse meat because my brother wanted to try it. Went up the wrong elevator and ran into a bunch of prostitutes who kept waving us in. When we finally found the place it ended up being closed because of Golden Week (or something) and we never got it. Oh well, I'm not too into food. I'm just as happy with a microwavable gas-station burrito.

Balut is great.

I've had fried silkworm cocoons before. They're not half bad.

^Yeah I had that in the US and also thought it tasted like chicken. It's weird all these animals are pretty rare to eat in the UK or certain parts of the US while we happily eats cows, sheep and chickens.

it's extremely hard to import meats in to the EU apparently and I don't think we have any alligators outside of zoos :-k

Ate a worm when I was a kid.

Otherwise I've mostly just had normal stuff.
My fiance made me some vegan enchiladas last year... that was a little odd I guess. As a side-note, enchiladas just shouldn't be made with artificial cheese.
It... doesn't melt the same as real cheese.

My younger uncle dared me to eat a dog treat once, it was a pepperoni stick for dogs.

It was nasty. You'd think it sounds ok. It's not.

My dad ate cow brain.

He also when drunk grabbed a bowl out of the freezer what he thought was gnocchi's and added horse radish sauce, ketchup,Tabasco and other shit. Turned out it was a bowl of garlic. for 3 days he smelled like that.

Yeah, I've had a spoonful of tinned dog food before. Thought I was gonna be just like Mad Max. What happened is I actually couldn't even swallow it. Disgusting.

Here's a question; would you try human meat? Under normal circumstances, I would not. It's a stupid idea, since livestock are kept under very strict conditions, typically not allowed to move around much, and are slaughtered by the time they're a year old. This produces sumptuous, juicy meat.

Since looking at a human, you can tell that the animal is neither raised nor bred for its meat. Therefore one would be looking for adult specimens, whom have had 20 or so years of life. The meat would be very stringy, chewy and tough, indeed. Also, unlike livestock, the typical human specimen is not kept in a controlled environment. You would be opening yourself up to all sorts of toxins, blood-born viruses and pathogens.

Still, in an apocalypse scenario, I think I'd quickly become a cannibal once all the pre-apocalypse food runs out. I've got a way with words, and I think I could do well luring people to their slaughter. Tastes just like pork, anyway.
