I don't quite understand peoples obsession with celebrities and such. It just seems weird to me how people worship stars they don't know personally. I can understand liking a character and respecting talents and musicians but to want to know every detail of their personal life when they don't want you to is beyond creepy.

I think it's part of our cultural phenomenon of propping up people one moment, only to watch in amusement as they begin to crumble the next.

Surely using a Dreamcast case to cover his modesty was overkill though. A VMU would have probably done the job.

Isn't there a way to put a ban on a public IP address to stop duplicate accounts?

IP banning is only so effective. It dissuades the random spammer with no vested interest in the site, but a sad soul who is obsessed with re-registering can get around it quite easily.

Not saying it ain't worth doing, just that it won't prevent duplicate accounts if someone's desperate enough for attention.
