They better not screw that up like they did Man of Steel.

They used a quote taken directly from the fight scene in TDKR #4. They said it's not going to be based on it, but they're using the mini-series as inspiration, so it'll probably be a complete reverse in a number of respects.

I must be the only person here who doesn't see how Superman and Batman fit together. Like, at all. And you fans may say "well that's the point" but eh, not seeing and never have done. Their universes, characters etc are just too different. It's like putting Spider-Man together with Wolverine [or, when they mixed up Alien with Predator, it's just fanboy nonsense], just seems like bizarro world to me, fine on their own, but together? Seems cheesy as hell.

So it's safe to say that Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern won't be getting another instalment.

Couple months back it was said Joseph Kosinski[Tron Legacy and Oblivion] would direct and Goyer has said he would love to work on the sequel.

Reynolds is reportedly still in for the Justice League film.

I read that he's more optimistic about a Deadpool reboot than a Green Lantern sequel/reboot coz of budgetary issues. Woulda thought that Sinestro doubling up as Luthor would be the final nail in the coffin. Either that or by "watch this space" he means "no, but I pop up as Sinestro at the end."

Yeah they wont have Strong going around as both but then Lex might be dropped from the next film now that its Superman/Batman?

I can't see that happening though. Keep in mind that it isn't just a Batman/Superman film, it's the sequel to Man of Steel, so it's still very much a Superman film. The only plausible way of introducing Batman, as far as I can see (from someone who reads the comics, still haven't seen the film), is for Lex to be the link. Wayne Enterprises going up against LuthorCorp, introducing Bruce, and eventually Batman (who, hopefully, has been active on an "urban legend" level, I really don't want to see another "early years" Bats)

Another way would be for Clark, the investigative journalist he is (and I'm assuming here that he's at least on the path to becoming one in MoS), to be "hunting down" other heroes which could link him to Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc., with Batman being his first "discover". The problem that this presents though is that:

1) It'd go a long way to not feeling too forced.
2) People wouldn't necessarily be shocked at the presence of Superman if these heroes have already been active.
3) Are they really considering to create feature-length films based on what Samuel L. Jackson did as Nick Fury in what I assume is less than one cumulative minute worth of screen time prior to the Avengers film?

Batman investigating LexCorp and using Bruce Wayne to get close to him is the most logical option, so story-wise, leaving him out of it would present a huge gamble. This is all of course if it is a true Batman/Superman film, and not 90% one character with the other showing up towards the end, or in minuscule mentions here and there.

At the end of the day, whilst I don't agree with Spence's view on Batman/Superman stories, the most difficult seems to be the first meeting between the two. Not a single story exists that has told this story in a satisfying way, so I'm hoping that they can pull it off, otherwise it could turn out to be an utter train wreck.
