The cast really seem to be very close to Lynch though and it looked like they wouldn't return if he didn't. They all felt that he added "something more". Often unexpected things beyond the script.

But as some suspected, negotiations continued and a previously reliable source hinted today that Lynch might be back. Rumors of course but I wouldn't be too surprised.

I don't mind other directors either actually. In a way Twin Peaks is what it is due to different vibes. And Frost is also there after all. It just would be nice with a couple of episodes directed by Lynch. Or at least him being there to keep things from straying too far from his and Frost's vision.

95% of the cast will return without Lynch directing. It's not like most of them can really be picky about what projects they choose and Twin Peaks will be the biggest thing most of them will have been in since the original Twin Peaks.

David Lynch is back.

A month after David Lynch pulled out of Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival, the director and network confirmed on Friday that Lynch was back for good.

And the news gets better: Nevins also revealed that the Twin Peaks revival will be bigger than first announced. “David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours,” the executive said.

Lynch was excited about the good news as well.

With a year, two of my favorite works of art, both of whom ended on big cliffhangers, are back. I honestly expected Shenmue 3 eventually; I thought Twin Peaks was entirely DoA! Good times for unfinished classics.

Just got the Complete Mystery blu-ray box set for my birthday and started watching again. Damn fine set! Would highly recommend if you have the chance.

I have never even seen Fire Walk With Me, either. I see there's an extended fan edit out there with all the deleted footage spliced in. Any thoughts?

I saw the movie and I honestly wasn't a fan, but I will give it another shot. I have not seen the fan edit either so maybe that is the way to go.

Twin Peaks is easily one of my favourite TV shows and I'm thrilled to see everyone returning, including David Lynch himself to direct all of the episodes. I remember when it first started to all fall apart and seemed like it wasn't going to happen, there was definitely a moment of "Well, you can't have everything." given then amount of new tv shows revisiting older material. It seemed like something had to give. But then it came back and now all is right with the world again. At least, the world of TV, maybe.

Can't wait, what with this and the evil dead TV show, the future is looking pretty bright.
