The fact you think she has the most "personality" is odd. Noriko and the girl clerk at the Harbor Tomato Convenience Store in 1 have more personality and interesting backstory than Joy. The fact you put Joy over say, Xiuying or Shenhua, shows you probably not only haven't played the Shenmue games in a while, but it honestly says more about you than it does me.

I never put Joy above everyone else and said she was the best, I used her as an example as with the offended culture we have now you can bet if she was in a new game everyone would just say it's sexist how she's dressed. I think she's more insteresting then someone like Nozomi as she has some personality. Nozomi and pretty much the majority of characters in Shenmue feel the same and boring. The way I think of it is if you went to a pub with Ryo and Nozomi you'd want to smash your head through the jukebox it'd be so boring. If you went with Ren and Joy I imagine you'd have a pretty good time and maybe a tattoo you won't remember getting the next day.

I'll agree with you that Xiuying may be the most interesting character in the game.

The problem with Shenmue is that the voice acting is so bad that it ruins a lot about a character. Talking to Nozomi outside the flower shop is like watching speed dating at an autism club.

I never thought it was that bad.

I also don't think the "outrage" people would have a problem with Joy. She dresses like a normal young woman. I mean, who cares if they did have a problem? How does that affect you in any way?

Because the more people get outraged the more articles you see about how the way women are portrayed in media is the worst thing ever. I'm all for women being treated a equels but when you see tons of media outlets reporting on Avengers 2 being sexist because there's a part where Black Widow is in a cage after being kidnapped it starts a chain. Someone posted in this topic before how they're trying to get trains with women only sections, how people haven't laughed this idea off the moment it was mentioned is beyond me. Before you know it we turn into a massive PC nation where I can't pop into the pub as Saturday is woman's night and I should have gone the day before for men.

I won't watch anything or click on anything with the Westboro Church in it as I don't want to encourage people to report on them and give them the time of day. I ignore it when I see an article about how the new Tomb Raider is sexist before anyone has even played it but the majority of people go along with this crap.

Does this shit really effect me now? No. Will it in the future? Well it's looking like in the future if I call the barmaid 'luv' I'd be the devil.

I feel like there's a middle area we should take.

I feel like there's a lot of "feminists" crying wolf every time something like this happens, but I don't think reasonable course of action is to be equally "outraged". It feels like with the opposite camp, nothing could convince them of bad representation of women even if it's hitting them right in the face. It seems like both camps are trying to one-up each other in a mass contest to see who's right when sometimes - actually, most of the time - modern depictions of women/racial minorities/lgbt/disabled people isn't good, but not all depictions of women and minorities is worth raising an uproar over, either.

The MRA camp, of which we have seen plenty of online, is full of extreme outrage too. Mad Max: Fury Road, anyone?

Pretty much everyone is taking an view on the fringes these days. It's even reflected in our culture. In America, one hand you've got Donald Trump, and on the other hand, even though as a socialist I don't find him to be extreme, Bernie Sanders. No one has any room for moderation these days, and it bites them in the ass.

In short, just because some feminists bitch about seemingly fine stuff, doesn't mean some of their grievances don't have merit. Boob armor's a pretty fucking good example. I think we should take these arguments by a case-by-case basis rather than throwing all dissenting opinions under the bus.

In any case, there's nothing wrong with Joy's character design. Women dress like that all the time, and there's no reason to assume the "SJW's" would have a point of contention. That seems to be assuming all their points have zero merit on any basis in reality, which is false.

The last time I remember there being a female game character design debate it was when Dragon's Crown came out and there's a huge difference between this:

and this:

I always find it funny how you got some guy being OUTRAGED by the people that are OUTRAGED. Even when no one's complaining.

So what is the feminists stance and demands on the big titted woman in deagon's crown? Do they want the artist to censure his own work?

And most of all, I'm sorry people are too lazy, or apathetic, to attempt to fix a problem after they have identified it as being such.

Do not think that I am belittling anybody for being transgender, black, white, gay, a christian, a satanist, or any other arbitrary reason. No. I only belittle the weak and the lazy, because their actions have allowed them to be belittled.

You proceed to claim that people seek to be identified with a group - which is precisely what they are against - and then criticize them for being lazy and apathetic in solving the problem (Wait, isn't fighting for what they believe what movements like feminism are about?). You belittle the weak because their actions have allowed them to be belittled? Even without going into questions of free will, I will just point out just how profoundly obtuse that remark is.

I can't be arsed to reply to your obnoxious response to our argument (Failing at a conversation? Are you 15?), but I'll make the effort to remark something which should be made quite clear. This isn't about movements, the need to belong, or of identifying with something greater than themselves. It's not a case for "feminism".

"Not the whole MRA camp"? MRA's are a joke, mate. The reason every news outlet responds that way in regards to MRA's is because MRA's are largely considered a joke by wider society not because they're trying to brainwash their readers.

And the diatribe you did after that was ridiculous, Omega. I thought we agreed no more humorless navel gazing?

That sequence of posts was mighty pathetic.

Nope. As far as I know there's a lot of varied opinions on the matter.

Personally, I'm in the "he can draw whatever he wants, but man does he do some gross characters" camp. Doesn't stop me from wanting to play Dragon's Crown eventually though, but I'm definitely not playing as the Sorceress. Rogue is my style!

I really wish he'd do a male character with his bulge bouncing up and down and with a real fat arse. That'd be awesome. \:D/

They're a real thing. When Mad Max: Fury Road came out, the protested saying that it was a "feminazi" agenda film.

And Jesus Christ, no one with any brains is going to respond to that point, Omega. What a load of pretentious pap. :rotflmao:
