Terrorism has become the new fuel to incite fear onto the masses. In the 30's and 40's it was the Nazi's and Hitler, after that the cold war between Soviet Russia and the United States. This fear we have of terrorists is why there is a never ending crises in the middle east. The most recent terror attack now has France involved in the Syrian conflict, very similar to 9/11 which gave the United States a reason to get involved with Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think I agree, though it means that there IS some sort of "New World Order" shit going on, some groups with extremely long reaches pulling media/government fear-agenda blitzes like that with a common theme and/or enemy?
Isn't it partly base instinct nature, aggressive alpha-dog behaviours, wanting to show the world he is boss? We're don't really live in fear of nature any more, but our animal instincts have never really gone that far away. The pack mentality is easily observed, again a nature thing, the media doesn't create it, it just plays on it and knows how to work it. Same with inspiring leaders, good and evil, they know what to say to get people fired up. I can't see us ever changing, we'll always find an excuse to shoot and sometimes eat one another.

Out of that list you posted, it could be argued that the 1930s-1940s fear was sort of justified? ;-)

War is a racket. Our weapons are about as appropriate for fighting terrorists as Poland's weapons were for fighting Germany. "We need more F-35's to fight ISIS!"

Part of "their" weaponry though is the mentality that goes with being one of them, properly unafraid to die and on some levels brainwashing, we simply can't compete with that, a lot of soldiers are well trained and effective at what they do, they win at gunfights but there's simply no defence if one of the crazies detonates something right next to you, not caring that he'll die in the process. For that reason, it must have been utterly TERRIFYING for the armed police in France to go into that apartment, with the possibilities of explosives and boobytraps waiting. I imagine a police SWAT team could do such a thing, dunno if France has an equivalent, I'm surprised they didn't call in special forces or some kind of army specialist unit that's trained to deal with such threats TBH...

You mention that war is a racket and imply that arms-tech corps influence governments to make war to increase profits. I believe this can be the case (didn't Rumsfeld himself make quite a lot (as in, so much a new number had to be invented) out of Gulf War 2?), but how can they have such a hold that our leaders will take us to near bankruptcy (apparently the UK is in £1.5trillion debt, which is a scary number) just to line the wallets of freinds in the arms business? Surely to Christ they can't ALL be that corrupt? There must be more to it than that?

How nice to live in a time where European capitals are starting to look like Beirut during the civil war.
