The game isn't portrayed through a first-person perspective, so there weren't any issues with the passage of time. It's just one of those things where you have to suspend reality for the purpose of the story progressing smoothly. Same goes for Ryo's lack of eating, drinking, and using the toilet; not to mention the fact that nobody changes their clothes except for a few on New Year's Day

It's nice though that even after killing Iwao they filled the hole they dug back in so it wouldn't ruin the grass.

And they then proceed to run over a cat and almost hit at least two people as they speed through Sakuragaoka and Dobuita. Screw getting revenge for Iwao, I want to get revenge for the dead cat, Lan Di giving Tom the cold glare and Yamagashi's bad back!

They even replaced the Mirror with a flashback cutscene. Now that is good gardening!

It is merely a game. These thought processes inquire our imagination though. They really did not show Lan Di or his men physically getting the mirror out did they.
