What date did you beat Shenmue?

In my game Ryo set sail for Hong Kong on December 25th 1986.

I always thought that was cool that I beat the game Christmas day.

Too bad I resumed Shenmue 2 in late February 1987... I really wish I had bothered to learn how to convert my save.

On a related note did anyone ever delete their original Shemnue cleared save? I never did and always felt it was a symbolic gesture of hope not to do so.

I think the date always starts the same for shenmue 2 and the questuion your asking is 14 years old

That's not true sir. If you carry over your save from SI the start date of SII will adjust appropriately.

Not a clue, but it was definitely after New Year's; my estimate would be mid-to-late January. I don't think I've ever exceeded January - not even to trigger the Bad Ending - unless my memory ain't what it used to be

What's ready weird is that the time between 1986 (when the game is set) and 2000 (when the game came out) is 14 years. We had to wait 14 years just for Shenmue 3!

Today, the year 2000 is just as far back as 1986 was when we first bought Shenmue... it makes me feel ooooold.

nahh, can't give a precise time and date, the game was too overwhelming to recall that shit, and in fairness, i can't recall the exact timestamp.
around 2004. (a lot was going on in life, maybe late 04?)
...
and lets call it how it is.
the last thing most are doing after completing a heaven-end-hell trial, is recall the exact date it was overcome. (i can recall what my insides were like, but that's not the question.)

Well maybe Ryo is over the hill and past him prime now. So he get's depressed and, tail between his legs, goes back to Yokosuka and re-applys for the forklift driver position.

Ryo lives out the rest of his days making minimum wage driving the forklift and eventually is laid off and is forced to beg in the harbor next the homeless man.

Once in a while he gets a letter from Fuku San who ended up marrying Nozomi and now runs a successful franchise of Hazuki dojos.

It was somewhere in January for my first time, I'm pretty sure. I really took my time. I was so thoroughly engrossed in it.

Like you, I have my original cleared save on a VMU somewhere. I'll check it sometime!

I recently finished Shenmue on Dec 17th, which to my knowledge is the fastest possible without glitching the game.
