Actually, shenme is "what" in Chinese.
Shen means God in Chinese, so I'm guessing it means something like God Tree. In the Inuyasha movie, "The Love That Transcends Time" there is a God Tree that also links different times together, so if that's an actual legend and not just something they made up for the movie, it would make sense regarding a post made by Kyoku'ko here.
