Shenmue Dojo

For me, FREE 1 stands out the most. It's the first piece of music that plays once you leave the dojo and set off on your quest for revenge. It sets the mysterious tone perfectly considering the fact that Ryo doesn't know why his father was killed and is currently unaware of what he is getting himself into.
It's also peaceful but sad, as if Ryo has come to terms with what has happened and is no longer in shock but at the same time still deeply upset and depressed.

I'm probably overanalysing it, but I can't help but think that every time I hear the song.

IMO the FREE songs that best capture the atmosphere of Shenmue 1 are:

The sadness these two tracks emote truly separates itself from other games. I can't really think of any other games that perfectly capture the feeling of being lonely with simple musical notes. Incredible work.

One of my favorites are these unused tracks from Shenmue II.

I listen to Shenmue music almost every day since Shenmue came out. They did an outstanding work with the game music. I like Shenmue II music more especially the music from Guilin.

FREE 15 is probably my second favorite song in the series

One that I've always loved is Beautiful Shine Jewelers

Just some random shop that serves absolutely no purpose except something to explore and has such nice music

I still have not listened any Shenmue music, I find more inspirational to marry my Shenmue thinkings with extra music. But I watch Shenmue Memories 60 fps video in repeat and Morning Fog's Waves is always so intense.

There are some FREE tunes I don't care much for, but I do love that the FREE music in Shenmue I changes as you progress throughout the game as opposed to each area having its own ditty, like in Shenmue 2 (where, given the bigger map, it works better that way).

I love FREE 1 for the same reasons Jibby posted. This one from the beginning of Disc 2 always stuck with me, too:

FREE 15 is beautiful, yes. I got to the point in the game where that plays last night, and spent ages just wandering around Dobuita at night just to fully appreciate it

I been listening to Shenhua piano a lot and all the other version of her from Guilin really looking forward to Shenmue 3 new music.

I listen to just Shenmue music on shuffle regularly (I, II, Online, soundtracks, etc. )
