About Shenfa/Shenhua in the soundtracks

I´m curious about this, in Shenmue Dojo and other places the song number 20 of Shenmue I official sound track (disc 1) is named as Shenhua but in the backcover of the sountrack is named as Shenfa, Why not call the song like it does in the soundtrack?.

That's because "Shenfa" is not the official title given by SEGA. Remember that
the song titles in the official sound track CDs don't have any English translations,
unless it's originally titled in English, such as "Antiquity Tree," "Wish..." etc.
I assume that those English titles are given by some translator unofficially,
not by SEGA. Honestly, some English titles are really weird.

Anyway, if yours have English translations, it's most likely a bootleg made by
some Taiwanese company.

I can´t know for sure, but I check a japanese alphabet and I translate it like:


SHE-N-FU (F)-AA

Oh, you're talking about Japanese Katakana? Well, you could read it as either "Shenhua"
or "Shenfa," but it's not a "translation." Just showing how it is read conventionally.

Anyway, please note that it's impossible to spell foreign words exactly as it's pronounced
in the original language. And, it's no use to convert Japanese Katakana spelling to English.
Because we often spell foreign words so differently from the original. For example,
Katakana for Christmas can be read as "kurisumasu" and England can be "Ingurando."

So, forget about converting Japanese Katakana to English, please! ;)

The bottom line is SEGA have decided to spell her name as "Shenhua" for the English ver.
Though they used "Sha hua" at the beginning, they've chosen "Shenhua" eventually.

I think even for that recent Play concert is was spelt Shenfa, :?
