I think you'd be daft not to choose Ren to be honest (because of coolness, etc)... but if it had to be someone else I'd probably like to be Goro.

He's misunderstood and full of life. Plus he gets to say things like "Yooooooooo, Duuuude!!!" and "Shut yo' lip, Woman!!!" while still keeping a quiet sense of dignity.

Plus he's marrying a japanese schoogirl... *cough*

I would love to be many characters is Shenmue. As we've all probably experienced to some extent, a man whose life is empty is a man who always wishes to start anew. I guess the most interesting character for me at the moment is Gui Zhang. I'm young and strong. No doubt I'd follow Ryo on many adventures, and I'd still have my father (who knows many interesting things) and a lovely stable future in rare antiquities set in stone. I'd have nice hair and a nice suit too, to say nothing of some martial skill, and I'm already friends with Joy. I see no obstacles to exhilarating happiness, except perhaps a bum leg.

Ichiro Sakurada

He has been Ryo's playmate since childhood and is his classmate now. He is one of the few people who knew Ryo's mother. After Naoyuki joined them when they were in the second grade, the threesome often played together. He has a rather shallow, idle personality, does things at his own pace and is indecisive. He is scared of heights and hates green peppers. He is very shy and tries to be funny when talk gets serious to hide his shyness. He says he gets tense when he talks with girls. His grades are above average. He is thinking of going on to college after graduation but doesn't have a specific goal in mind.

So we are similar in a few ways.
