Why do you like Shenmue?

i think for me its just the storyline and have everything pieces together in the game

Honestly, the main reason I like the Shenmue series so much is because of the environments/settings it takes place in. I'm a whore for Japanese and Chinese culture/history/music, so it's all good for me. It has everything I love.

How 'bout this, JF? I wasn't a particular fan until I played Shenmue! Then I became an absolute nut about Japan, China and the East. One day I'm gonna get to go there. In the meantime I'm still trying to find a Japanese course I can easily take. I'm also planning to do out my house in the Japanese style - except that the Dojo (and Japanese houses generally) is kept fanatically clean and tidy, and, er, my house isn't!

i'm not so fond of the japanese language, probably cuz written it looks like chinese, well, some of it, and spoken it sounds nothing like chinese.
I would rather learn chinese and should really,

Why? Are you ethnically Chinese?

Chinese languages are phenomenally difficult - words are very short and monosyllabic - consequently many words which are "spelt" the same in fact have wildly different meanings depending on the pitch of your voice as you say them. That is why Chinese (to a foreigner) sounds very sing-song.
