Shenmue Dojo

I like shenmue becuase of the detail that Mr. Suzuki put into this masterpiece. You could stand in front of a bar all day and witness it being opened, then you can see the customers come in, then later stumble out drunk. This game is also golden becuase of the story line, fighting engine, music and the FREEdom.

Why do you like it?

Good question. I love it for alot of reasons, mainly its unique style and story. And as you said, the daily life going on around you, and I still think the graphics are great to this very day. The fighting is brilliant too, along with the dozens of mini-games. Even though the voice acting is bad, I love it for its cheesyness, it just give me a good laugh.

I like Shenmue because of the story.it's an incredible story,the best ever made in a video game.

I like Shenmue because of the great story line, action, characters, and the mini-games.

It is fun, and its sort of a relaxing game. You dont need to be on your toes every second.

its genre breaking style and the freedom you get

Honestly, the main reason I like the Shenmue series so much is because of the environments/settings it takes place in. I'm a whore for Japanese and Chinese culture/history/music, so it's all good for me. It has everything I love.

cuz it gave you a huge sense of immersion. and had a story. but mainly, it was the emotion that it could bring about. the music had a big deal to do with that i think.

I just want to kick Lan Di's ass, that's all.

... and I like to play darts in the arcade.

I love it because it's Shenmue. No wait that's a crap answer. Oh well

I love it cuz I see myself in Ryo and I just friggin like Japan, I'm going to live there when I a bit older

It gives you so much freedom, the aspect of finding clues from random people the action the adventure everything.

You can virtually live another life in Shenmue, it is so relaxing when you want it to be. And the good thing about it is how you progress at your own pace, you are not forced into anything. So you could live Ryo's life for another month before going to hunt down Lan Di.

(BTW this is my 98th post, I am doing my final 3 posts to 100 in each separate Shenmue forum, so the Shenmue II forum will contain my 99th post, and the 100th in the Shenmue III forum, etc. I chose this topic to do it in, well, because, it is purely and simply about the project we adore that is Shenmue).

I like Shenmue because of the action, the QTEs, and the things it teaches us.
